Dimplex v Elnur HHR heaters
Hi, Im swapping out my old Night storage heaters in my flat for new HHR heaters. I am very lucky that due to my postcode and current poor energy rating I am eligible for a Grant to cover a company to fit new heaters for free. Before this lucky break I had planned to try and save up for the Dimplex quantum heaters as I…

E7 smart meter but no e7
Hi I had economy 7 in my home but since had gas installed and all e7 removed. My supplier said Ince smart installed they could update meter to one reading so it didn't show as e7. All they did is change to same rate for night and day. If I do a comparison to change supplier they still recognise as e7 so I dint get single…

Octopus Flexible to Octopus 12M Fixed Contract?
I am considering signing up with the Octopus 12M Fixed contract, currently on the Octopus Flexible contract. Standing charges and unit prices are more or less the same on both contracts. Is it a wise move?

Advice on improving self use for solar energy generated?
Hi there, I've been thinking about solar panels, day/night tariffs and maximsing self use. Any tips on how we can improve self use of solar energy, especially for appliances and EV charging -- rather than importing from the grid. Any one here that has done this well? Happy to connect offline if easier.

British Gas and the Smart Meters
Good Afternoon, Today I received a letter from British Gas who are delighted to tell me that the benefits of the smart meter will be discussed when a representative of MPE utility will be "calling to discuss the nifty benefits of the Smart Meter." As an OAP ( not quite vulnerable yet) I take great exception to this type of…

Octopus Tracker - billing from manual meter readings
Hi, We're on Tracker with a Smart Meter, but very occasionally there's a gap in the data, meaning the month gets averaged and any savings from load shifting get wiped out. Does anyone know if the same thing happens if you put in a manual reading? I was thinking a precaution would be to pop in a manual reading after any…

My Loyal 12 month Fix with Octopus is due to end in September 2024
My Loyal 12 month Fix with Octopus is due to end in September 2024, do I renew it for another 12 months again, or go back to Flexible? As the prices are due to go up October 1st 2024, is it better to buy the fixed now, or go to Flexible?

My HomeCare with Bristish Gas has increased by £100
I have my energy with British Gas as well as my HomeCare service with them. The current agreement (annual boiler service, boiler controls cover, central heating cover, plumbing and drains cover and unlimited breakdown callouts and boiler claims) comes to an end at the end of August, but it has increased by £100 a year (to…

Solar Panels
Hi, we are looking at getting solar panels installed within the next month and unsure of a few things. Currently with Scottish Power, our 3yr fix is due to expire so moving to the price cap. We don't have a smart meter installed. Once we have the panels installed we are looking to moving to Octopus energy from the positive…

Debt with British Gas - they rejected my payment offer and unsure what to do next!
I am trying to reach a resolution with British Gas regarding a debt with them. I have done everything I have been instructed to do; contact CAB, National Debtline, etc, and have submitted an in depth budget to British Gas. It is clear from the budget that I have nothing left over to pay towards the debt. Both CAB and NDL…

slightly weird (but as it involves BG, maybe not)
I switched from BG to Octopus back in autumn 2023. I recently logged on to an account that I used to use for utility DDs and found that a DD of 5p was paid to BG on the 24/04/2024. I haven't had any comms from BG telling me I owe them money so why the payment? Any insight would be very much appreciated. I know it's only 5p…

British Gas billing is an absolute mess?
Hi,I've stuck with British Gas for quite a long time because I value stability. I tried other companies in the past and regretted it when I couldn't get reliable support at times of need. I need security for my energy and I can't be messing about as I have ADHD and get stressed out by things. I'm willing to pay a little…

Recommendation for reputable Boiler/Central Heating cover?
I'm looking to get some boiler cover for my Ideal Logic (approx 6 years old) in preparation for the winter. I only know about British Gas Homecare when I was with them many years ago. If I was to draw up a shortlist of a few providers to research, who should they be? Many thanks

£150 off my bill for high usage?
Just had some guy come to the door. Apparently he's been to a few houses about Octopus Energy not paying a £150 discount on our bill. I'm sure he said it was for the warm home discount because we had 3 kids under 5. Everything about this screams some sort of scam but wanted to get another opinion. He asked quite a lot of…

So energy variable direct debit.
I have recently renewed my tariff with So Energy in June. They didn't take a payment in July so I have contacted them and have been told I can no longer do a variable direct debit( as I want to just pay for the energy as we always pay too much ) We used to be able to do this on on our last tariff with them and paid much…

Can someone tell me how how the hell I'm supposed to read this meter?????
I'm supposed to have two rates but I can only get to show me one. Quite frankly the the whole thing is as clear as mud. Why they can't just have one button labelled "show me my usage" I have absolutely no idea. Oh no, that would be too easy!
