CCurrently With octobus,our fixed rate has just cone to an end so bill is gping from 126 a month to 140. Is it worth me fixing a new deal ?

    If you want to stick with Octopus, take a look at their fixed-rate deal or see if one of their smart tariffs might suit you.

    If you don't mind switching supplier, put your details (including annual consumption) into one of the comparison sites and see what pops up.

    A fixed is likely to be higher than the current standard variable rate. But based on current market volatility, the SVR is likely to go up over the course of the next 8-12 months. How much is open to debate and it might drop back once the markets have settled down. All a bit of a gamble I'm afraid.

    Worth looking at suppliers who allow you to move to another of their products without paying an exit fee, that way if you fix now and prices do drop later in the year, you have the option to move to any lower fix they offer. A current fix will be higher than the current SVR until the end of this month, then the current fixes will likely be less than the new SVR.
