Economy 7????
I am 77 and a widow, and only just coping with leccy bills by using the "off-peak" hours of heating, then " heat the human" for the rest of the day. Just heard (from ALIENERGY) that the radio- controlled support for my ECONOMY 7 will be switched off on 31st March 2024. Told Octopus,my supplier, and they just said you need…

British Gas withholding final bill and over £4000 credit
I'm sure I'm not the only one but I feel compelled to share my frustrating experience with British Gas in a hope that someone can help me get this issue resolved. After closing my account, I’ve been left waiting an unreasonably long time for my final bill to be issued – all while British Gas continues to hold a significant…

Utility Warehouse upped our DD
Hi, UW has upped our DD £317 a month for gas and electric from £200. We have been on a standard DD for our utilities and all of a sudden we are massively in debt, and now having to find another £117 to pay on top of everything else. Is there anything I can do to tell them to revert my DD? I’m phoning them tomorrow morning,…

Outgoing Octopus errors and missing data.
I think I’m going down a rabbit hole and would really like to be saved before I make a complete idiot of myself. I recently received a credit for my Outgoing Octopus tariff. After checking all the data, I found several days were missing. I contacted Octopus and a few days later all the missing days export data showed up,…

Rebel Energy
This is a "fun" one My Father had Solar Panels fitted in July 2024 (Nationwide Renewables) Part of the process was supposed to be a switch from BG to Octopus Before this could happen Rebel called by Father and had him transfer his supply to them Dad was registered on TPS - he should never have been called. Rebel spelt my…

Standing Charge
My property is currently unoccupied and the bills are costly I cannot do much about the council tax. I am wondering whether there is a tariff or utility company that has low or no standing charge? As my bill is 98% standing charge. Utilita Energy requires a pre paid meter which I don't have/

British Gas fail me again
I am in the midst of an Ombudsman complaint against BG that has been dragging on, for what seems like, forever. Putting the ongoing complaint to one side, today I find out that they have changed my variable tariff (yes it has decreased) but they have failed to notify me. Any other BG variable tariff customers not get any…

Economy 7 and ending of RTS (Radio Teleswitch Service)
I currently have a digital Economy 7 meter. My energy supplier (Shell) make the following statement on their website. "In March 2023 RTS meters will lose their functionality. This is because the radio teleswitch that controls the meters will be switched off. This may affect some homes where the electrical circuits may not…

Scottish Power / Economy 7 and smart meters
Hi all, Hoping some folk here might have come across my queries and are able to advise please? I have E7 and been emailed by SP several times about changing to a smart meter. I'm reluctant to do so due to hearing many tales of woe over smart meter problems, specifically with E7 readings. Q1 Is this a major problem, or have…

Retention offer from British Gas
I have today initiated a switch from British Gas to Eon after extensive price comparisons revealed I could potentially save £140 per year by switching, I received an email from BG confirming my switch and a phone number to call to see if they could entice me to stay. I duly called them and was offered a cash credit offer…

Solar Panel and Battery Quote Advice
Hi, I'm hoping to get some advice on quotes I'm starting to receive for solar panels and battery storage. For context, I'm replacing both my petrol cars with electric vehicles and the household electricity consumption is 3400kwh. This will obviously increase significantly when both cars appear. The quote I have received so…

Which EV Charger to get?
Wife has decided to get an electric car (Mini) so will need to get an EV charger to benefit from low night rates. Any recommendations? We are with Octopus as have Solar panels and battery. I see Octopus do EV charger but presumably they are expensive as their quote for solar panels wasn't competitive at all. Thanks

Smart Meter Apps - Bright, Loop Or Something Else ?
Did a search on here and couldn't find much on the pros and cons of each or any others to use. I am with Eon Next and have their app. I have also downloaded both Bright and Loop. Reselling Electricity
I live in a building which has 116 residential apartments and 6 commercial units. We have one main meter coming into the building and then we have our own sub meters. The caretaker takes a meter reading and then the total consumption is then subtracted from the main meter which is then in the service charge budget as…
