Switching through comparison sites

Hi

When switching through price comparison sites, should I expect to see an email from the new supplier acknowledging the switch and likewise one from the old supplier recognizing my intent to leave? I made a switch and had no communication from either suppliers so I don't know whether my switching request was successful or not. I contacted the new supplier but the agent was useless and just asked me to start the switching process again on their website!

I've always received an email from the new supplier almost immediately after initiating the switch and one from the supplier I'm leaving soon after.

Yes, you should get an acknowledgement almost straight away from the new supplier, followed relatively quickly by one from the old supplier saying they're sorry to see you go, are you really sure and saying it's not too late to change your mind.

It can take slightly longer than by signing up with the supplier, but start chasing the third party if it's been more than a day or two.

Remember that the changeover readings should only be given to the new supplier, never to the old one.

Check that they both use the same changeover readings. In each case it doesn't matter if there's a slight variance from the figure you gave as long as they're identical.

Thanks for your replies. I thought that would be the case, that I should get an acknowledgement from both parties very soon after I submitted my request to switch. I wasn't sure whether making the switch over the weekend would delay acknowledgements from energy suppliers. Maybe the switch request failed from the comparison site and that's why the new supplier couldn't see it but I'll wait until tomorrow when the new week starts in case the new supplier sends acknowledgment manually.via a different team.
