Student rental accommodation energy provider threats of bailiff
Hi can anyone please advise My child and flatmates are being threatened by British gas bailiffs on 1 May for a bill of £3k. The students should all be concentrating on dissertations or NHS final placements. 1. Student accommodation (SA) pays all bills but has not been paying energy, as they have not received a bill, not…

British Gas billed me 6.5 times my real electricity usage for 2 years
Apologies
for the long entry. British Gas
billed me, on average, 6.5 times my real electricity usage for 2 years since
their contract began, with peaks of 22 times as much, as reported by Government
contractor SGS in January 2024 after checking my broken meter, now replaced. I was overcharged
from Feb 22 to Jan 24 and I…

Octopus Tracker
I just wondered about people's experiences with this tariff and whether they feel they are winners or losers. I got a quote from them yesterday, and I have to say I find the numbers highly misleading. The figures are very attractive, beating even the good fixed rate tariff I got from Avro, but presumably based on an…

British Gas: Ain't received my warm home discount?
Hi, wonder if you can help.... I received a letter in October 2023 saying that i will receive £150 warm home discount by the 31 of March 2024. On the letter it said i don't have to do anything as it will automatically be done by my energy supplier. I phoned British Gas as nothing on my payment history shows anything…

Smart meter installation complaint
Hi, We had a smart meter fitted last week - we tried to have one a couple of years ago but we were told that it wasn't suitable to install one on our gas box. Our energy supplier Scottish power contacted us recently and insisted that they have a new installation method and we are now able to go ahead. A guy came out last…

Not so Smart Meter
Why is it that British Gas send me monthly electricity bills with an increasing power usage reading when I have not been at the property for many months and the power is off at the master switch. Is this just a British Gas thing or are all smart meters scamming.

Smartmeter with off-peak usage
I have always been of the opinion that electricity meters are infallible and when I got an electric car, I had no hesitation in getting the British Gas Electric car tariff (cheaper electricity between12-5am) and a new smart meter capable of a high enough resolution for this tariff. I have been in the same property for 10…

Eon not able to install smart meter due to insufficent cable lengths in current install
Hiya, As part of signing up to 'Eon Next Pledge Tracker' I agreed
to have a Smart Meter installed, the install arrived this morning only to tell
me that it was impossible to do with my current consumer box wiring due to the
fact the cables are too short for them to install one and not sufficient space
in the current…

Refunds and them holding onto your money
EDF issues. I asked them to refund overpayments. They said in writing it would take 3 to 5 days... they then insist its 5 to 10 days despite my having written evidence to the contrary. On website they recommended I reduce dd when I tried it stated it wasnt allowed as the reduction was over £ 60.

Scottish Power
Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been here for a few years. :) I have tried to post this via https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.scottishpower. I suspect what I wrote will not be viewable. I wrote this: Scottish Power is dreadful. I closed my account one month ago. They owe me over £1,500. I should have…

New boiler or other option (house for sale)
The house (2 bed end terrace) we are preparing to sell this summer needs its combi boiler replacing, it’s 13 years old and the repair it needs would cost £800+ maybe more, so it was recommended that we replace it. The rough quote the plumber gave so far is £1800 for a cheapest combi boiler installed with 5 year warranty.…

Economy 7 and Smartmeter
We had a Smartmeter2 installed in 2021 with Economy 7. It has never connected and just works as a legacy meter so I send in monthly readouts. I noticed straight away that our 30Amp AGA cooker which charges overnight was not in sync with the off peak rate. About 49 minutes out. No explanation was identified so we just put…

Landlords meter & UKPN
Hi We need to install a landlords meter in a property
that we rent out. It is to cover the electricity for the communal hallway.
Currently the electricity for this area is charged to one of the flats and we
have been covering the cost each month. The Housing Association that we rent
to will no longer accept that…

Hi , Switching supplier and asked to give final reading to both companies. The readings on my meter and smart meter, are much higher ,than reading shown my account . Duty of care from utility provider or backbilling?
I'm trying to help someone who has suddenly been given a ridiculously high utility bill. I don't know all the reasons behind it yet like how much energy they have been using and all the usual things. But my question is this....shouldn't a utility provider be regularly reviewing how much energy is being used and how much is…

Increasingly high bills from EDF
My bills from EDF have always been quite high but recently they seem to be getting out of hand. We have a Smart Meter which submits readings but they have been quoting us nearly £500 a month for usage over the past 3 months. We are two people living in a two bedroom flat so cannot understand why the bill is so high. Each…
