I had a new water meter installed on the 21st last month and have just checked it as curious to see how much i've used but reading is 0000. There are Red numbers but I know i don't use these.
Does the meter not kick in for a while? Shame as wanted to make sure no issues.

Are the red numbers 000 as well?

then it just means you haven't used enough water to get out of the red numbers, wait and see."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "2

We use around 3 cu m per month as our toilets flush by harvested rainwater. That's 3 on the meter every 30 days or so... No reason not to note the red digits for your personal records, and watch them clock up until you've used a full cubic metre's worth.
I try to read the meter every month, as it can detect a leak in the house via an abnormal reading!
If you are using under 1 cu m (1000 litres) per 18 days, say 50 litres a day, you'll be a very low user (142 litres a day is average per person use). Exactly the sort that will save a lot with a metered tariff!1 -

Welsh water have put me at £30 a month but I think that is too high. It should probably be £20 but I will request it to be put at £25 to be safe if readings are as low as it looks.
That's if I'm reading the breakdown of costs correct but my actual monthly bill should be about £16-£20?Water - £1.3419 per cubic meter
Sewerage - £2.0027 per cubic meter
Yearly service charge is £37.43 water, Sewerage £113.64

@JMZ555
How are you getting on, a little over a month after install?
WW installed my meter today, it’s a digital one instead of a dial which was unexpected, also had 000 readings. I had a quick chat with the installer and watched him, he isolated supply, unscrewed a cover and screwed the new meter in, was all done in less than 5 mins! He said they’ve been fitting them for about 12 months now and they can be read from the road rather than WW having to lift the cover. My Initial impression is that it’s easy for consumer to read 😀
now the MSE part, seeing if it’ll save me some cash! I’ve got up to 2 years to revert if needed.0 -

Will leave it till they do check October time and hopefully my bill will then be adjusted to £20 or below.
So nice saving from the £41 i was paying.0 -
Thanks, just over a month in I’ve already used 3 units so my usage is a little higher than yours. Welsh Water won’t let me enter a reading, saying they don’t need one yet. I’m used to octopus where when you enter a reading they’ll generate you a bill 😉 so looks like I’ll have to wait a few months until they’re ready to bill me and see where I stand. My direct debit has been set at £31.50 but that’s down from £44.50 before the meter was fitted.1

The meter will read in red until one cubic meter, 1,000 litres, of water has being used. Once its past the 1,000 litres it will read in black and red with the black number the thousands of litres used and the red numbers the litres of water used.Someone please tell me what money is0
