In Credit but British Gas increasing DD
Hi I noticed I had over £400 in credit on my Gas bill. British Gas put many excuses in the way of giving me a refund but eventually I argued that I am in credit year round as we don't use that much gas throughout the year. The agent calculated the correct amount owing from a current meter reading and then said he could…

Fixed rate tariffs increase in mid-year
In August 2023 I signed up for a 12 month fixed rate tariff with Octopus. I thought that would mean no changes for 12 months. But after only 9 months, they have increased the DD by more than 10%. So, that's not fixed rate is it? How can they do this?

Scottish Power SEG Export advice please
Hi everyone, I had Solar Panels and Battery Storage installed a year ago through an independant Solar install company. Due to all the hassles I have had with it since, it's been my biggest regret and a pain in the rear. Five months ago I transferred our services from Scottish Power to Octopus. A couple of month's ago, it…

Very pushy replacement energy meter calls
Hi all, I wanted to post about a friend's experience with a VERY pushy and rude call about a replacement energy meter. My friend rents, and has both Gas and Electric. She had a call from someone claiming to represent her power company and, seconds into the call they're demanding personal details from her and telling her…

Massive spike in electricity usage - Octopus Energy customer [Merged]
Hi there I took a meter reading for the period between 25/03 and 17/04. It showed usage of 20,870 kWh. On my current tariff that's £13,665 worth of electricity in 22 days. Even at the price guaranteed price that would be £4,350. I raised the matter with Octopus immediately who asked me to carry out a creep test, which I…

Economy 10 changed to E7 without warning Outfox the Market
I'm with Outfox the Market, after nothing short of harassment, I agreed to have a smart meter fitted. I was on economy 10 but the new meter was on economy 7. I use very little during the night time hours but a lot during the cheaper daytime hours so my old split on E10 was 50/50, on E7 its 82/19. Outfox did not tell me I…

FITS Payments - Why not monthly
Surely there is no excuse for Electricity companies to hang on to our money for a year before coughing up. With every thing, digital and automatic there is no excuse not to be paid monthly surely?

Can a Smart meter be installed flat (horizontally)?
I want a Smart meter but have limited space and a Smart electricity meter + comms device won't fit vertically on the wall, but it could do if it was laid flat. Is that allowed? I have contacted my provider's 3 times but can't get an answer.

BW Legal / PRAC / Eon legal letter requesting payment for outstanding elc/gas bill from 2017
Hi all, i recently received a
letter from BW Legal, via PRAC, stating that they had purchased the outstanding
debt of £80 which I owed Eon for a house i used to live in in 2017. They had
apparently found me using a soft search (as i've moved house 3 times since). However
when i checked clear score, it shows no searches at…

Warning - Money Expert Gas/Electricity Utility Switching Door to Door (again)
My elderly parents in their 80s were cold called by someone from Money Expert to have a free energy check. Apparently thought it was part of MSE so I'm not sure if that was part of the sales pitch or just the word association. They'd been told they could save £800 pa which seems ridiculous in the current climate.…

Social Energy/Octopus FIT
Hi All, Just wondering what other peoples experiences have been like with the above companies. I've had a look through the forums and can't see much other than some early comments on Social Energy from about a year ago. We've got a 5.2kw system with storage and signed up to Social Energy as the supplier when we had it…

Eon not able to install smart meter due to insufficent cable lengths in current install
Hiya, As part of signing up to 'Eon Next Pledge Tracker' I agreed
to have a Smart Meter installed, the install arrived this morning only to tell
me that it was impossible to do with my current consumer box wiring due to the
fact the cables are too short for them to install one and not sufficient space
in the current…

Advice Needed - Estimated Gas Reading for 4 years due to faulty smart meter
Hi I am getting more concerned about this as time is going on, In early 2020 I switched gas and electric suplliers from British gas to Eon. We already had smart meters fitted so I assumed it would be an easy switch over. However the gas meter (smart meter) has never worked the display has been blank and so no readings have…

Power UP event
Seems a first time for this. My energy provider has a power up event tomorrow between 1 and 2pm. 29p / KWH credit for every KWH shifted. what’s the max I can do without blowing a fuse? I have 2 EVs, one EV charger so I could do 7 on the charger and whatever the granny charger can deliver (3??). Would that cause a problem?
