British Gas - to switch or not to switch?
Hi, I'm currently on a fixed Octopus deal which ends at the end of July. The British Gas deal beats what Octopus can offer me but I either have to start it within a few days or after the 14 day cooling off period but that leaves me with at least two, more like three weeks overlap. Does that matter? I think I read Octopus…

Maybe getting solar panels - Fix?
I’m currently with Octopus on the standard tariff (no fix). I recently applied to the government warm home and it looks like I’ve qualified for solar panels, the installer is doing an “Aspestos survey” in a couple of weeks, and if all ok (should be) they will book a date for installation. Before all this started, I did…

British Gas switch to Aug27 rejected
I saw the newsletter about the new Fixed low tariff last night and immediately did a switch. I got CEC's "Switch in progress" email. Then, this morning, another email to say British Gas has rejected the switch. I'm a long-time British Gas customer on an existing tariff, expiring in July, within 49 days. I quickly did…

Smart Meter needs an Engineer Visit?
I signed up and had installed a smart meter with Octopus. I received a monitor from them. I purchased a Glow meter to enable me to send data to my computer. I registered the meter with Glow. All is well. I then transferred my account to OFTM, and after a few issues, all was well, since August 2025. The glow and the octopus…

British gas switch
Be aware of switch to British gas. switched using the link on this link, but after just 2 days told them I wished to go back to previous supplier. They said fine, but they delayed the switch back until after the cooling off period had ended and then added early exit fees to the bill. They tried to say the switch back…

British Gas switch
Just read the article re: new British Gas switch, I’m currently on the BG Collective Feb27 tariff and don’t want to pay early exit fees. The article says that BG will not charge these because you are remaining with BG, however, the fees are listed when I attempt to switch.

changing energy supplier
Hi, the LCD display on my electricity meter has malfunctioned, so I am unable to take a meter reading. Octopus are my supplier and they have refused to repair or replace the meter, saying I am obliged to have a smart meter fitted. I am unwilling to do this, so they have invited me to find a new supplier. So effectively I…

Energy club calculation error?
currently on an Outfox the market tariff, looks like another Outfox tariff would be the best fit for me, however whilst I'm not great at maths, something definitely looks wrong with the projected saving of a new tariff (both higher standing charge and unit cost for electricity) vs. my current tariff. Any thoughts on how to…

Updating Cheap Energy Club current tariff
I am on the dual fuel, dual rate electricity variant of BG's 'Nov26 Collective' tariff. Some years ago, I was able to switch to a single rate electric tariff with BG, despite still having a dual rate meter. All worked well and I was later able to chose new tariffs with BG (via their website) and still remain on single rate…

British Gas Credit Not Refunded
Hi all - I'm a customer of British Gas, I have built up a credit of just over £2300 in credit. When my bills went up in the energy crisis to £250 per month, I kept it at that level which is why the funds have built up. I have contacted British Gas three times to request that £2000 is refunded to me but they keep promising…
