Maybe getting solar panels - Fix?

I’m currently with Octopus on the standard tariff (no fix).
I recently applied to the government warm home and it looks like I’ve qualified for solar panels, the installer is doing an “Aspestos survey” in a couple of weeks, and if all ok (should be) they will book a date for installation.

Before all this started, I did want to do a fix before the price cap went up in July.

If I do do a fix now, what would happen after I got the panels?

    Welcome to the forum!

You can fix your supply tariff with Octopus now. Once you've got your solar panels, you can then apply to Octopus for an export tariff. The two are independent, so it won't affect the fixed supply tariff or vice-versa.

Make sure you have a smart meter, if you don't already. You won't get export payments otherwise.

Thanks. I do have a smart meter already.

It was the warm homes grant, they came and did a survey, my energy rating is a D and household income less than 36k pa.

Did you apply via your local council? Or via another route?

In another recent thread, @Lord_Percy was asking what help was available for the low waged. This might help them?

I applied just on the Gov. site, I was then contacted by Eon to complete a form and send proof of home ownership (water bill screenshot).
I’ve not dealt with the council at all, it’s all been with Eon and now the installer (Thrift Energy), they have been very efficient so far.

Sorry to ask another question, but do you recall exactly which government site it was? Do you have a link that other people could use to apply, as you've been successful?

(Note your account is too new to be allowed to post links, but if you type it without the "https" on the front it'll be good enough.)
