Is the LPG saga really any different to those on short term market rate contracts during the Ukraine crisis - some who really had to pay rates based on the Aug 22 peak for the "Nord Stream 1 shutdown" panic price of over 600p/therm. About 6x the current pricing - driving the cap up.
Not sure those people were ever compensated a la EPG cap.
And the first bit as usual - the nasty reminder to always read what you sign up to - because basically if its allowed its allowed.
Now if the firms are ever found guilty of profiteering (yes it is illegal - if IIRC only UK and Germany of the then 28 EU nations - had an actual explicit law - I suspect Germany might use theirs if push come to shove - UK - not so convinced)
