Octopus Smart meter?
Hi, I have been using a SMET1 dumb meter for a few years now, I read my meter every month and use my online account to input the details. I logged in today and a message came up saying I could book a convenient day to replace my old smart meters. Can anyone tell me if the Octopus app will work on my chromebook as I don't…

EDF Energy Smart Meter Fiasco, What are my next steps
Hi, Can anybody help with what my best options are now to resolve outstanding smart meter issues with EDF. Short story. Had a Gas smart meter installed start of year but it was not compatible with Gen 1 electric meter. Had to fight to get a new electric smart meter fitted to be compatible with new gas meter. After several…

Can I be forced to have a smart meter?
Hi, I'm new here so please forgive any faux pas... but here goes. We have solar panels on the roof, which don't make us a huge amount of money; but they make us more than they would otherwise because we have an old analog meter which actually rolls backwards while the panels are generating juice. Obviously we'd like to…

British Gas Account Transfer - Unusually High Bills
Hello MoneySavingExpert Users, I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced a similar issue with British Gas. Specifically, I'm concerned about a significant increase in my gas bills following an account transfer. In September 2023, my British Gas account was transferred from one starting with '85' to a new one…

British Gas: Ain't received my warm home discount?
Hi, wonder if you can help.... I received a letter in October 2023 saying that i will receive £150 warm home discount by the 31 of March 2024. On the letter it said i don't have to do anything as it will automatically be done by my energy supplier. I phoned British Gas as nothing on my payment history shows anything…

Eon new fixed tariff mentioned in MSE newsletter 30/4/24
It appears the new tariff is (for me as a low ish user at least) slightly dearer than the existing Eon Next Fixed 12m V14, which i've switched to today, both tariffs currently showing on the Eon app. The adviser i spoke to assumed the latest tariff would be cheaper until I asked her to recheck...of course if you are a…

Has British Gas increased tariffs in last few days
I pay variable tariffs for duel bills, gas and electricity with BG on bill on demand monthly.I noticed in last 6 days when I awake in morning around 5am my smart meter is showing £1.70 , it used to show around 90p. I used to end up at end of day using £1.90, now it's closer to £3, I haven't used any more appliances than…

British Gas won't accept complaint
Last year I had a complaint with British Gas over their provision of my services and delays in having meters working correctly. This was resolved via the ombudsman and all has been well since October. I am on the EV tariff with cheap electric midnight to 5am. My January bill shows 0 overnight usage. I have been charging my…

Should I fix my energy now?
Currently with e.on Next Pledge Tracker 12m V2 Fixed term ends 14/09/2024 24.37 p/kWh / 56.90 p/day But it's cheaper with Fuse. 20.9003 p/kWh / 51.3902p/day It's about 14% cheaper. Should I switch or should I wait until July? Can't decide. Thank you everyone.

Octopus Go and BST to GMT
Is there an extra hour for those on Octopus Go tonight and one less hour in March when we go from GMT to BST. Or do Octopus just stick to the 4 or 5 hour charging window regardless. Be interesting to know how it works as not sure my charger will adjust when the clocks go back.

Bionic contract issue with our small business supply - right to cancel?
This time last year (early Dec '22, to be precise), when the energy crisis was at it's apex, and no-one seemed to be able to offer anything other than the most ludicrous unit rates, I used Bionic as a price comparison/broker to find me the best of a bad bunch of rates on a one year contract. I am very much culpable of not…

Are Fuse Energy, really the cheapest ectricity variable tariff on the market?
I see they are a fairly new company, but they claim to be the cheapest variable electricity provider but wanted to hear from their customers to see if this is consistently the case? Also, any feedback on their customer service would be appreciated Thanks

Smartmeter with off-peak usage
I have always been of the opinion that electricity meters are infallible and when I got an electric car, I had no hesitation in getting the British Gas Electric car tariff (cheaper electricity between12-5am) and a new smart meter capable of a high enough resolution for this tariff. I have been in the same property for 10…

How do ECO4 grants work?
I see there are lots of companies pushing this grant and wanting you to apply through them, but what is the best way to go about applying for the grant? Is it necessary to go to one of these approved companies? Is there anyway to apply direct to the government and then choose my supplier? I certainly don't want to be…

Smart meter taken by previous tenant and on “smart prepayment”
I moved into my house about 18 months ago and the previous tenant had taken the smart meter with them (or a previous tenant - I don’t know who). It is a prepayment smart meter with EDF. I contacted EDF for a replacement smart meter and they refused to send one out and said I didn’t need it? How are the meters sending…

Eon not able to install smart meter due to insufficent cable lengths in current install
Hiya, As part of signing up to 'Eon Next Pledge Tracker' I agreed
to have a Smart Meter installed, the install arrived this morning only to tell
me that it was impossible to do with my current consumer box wiring due to the
fact the cables are too short for them to install one and not sufficient space
in the current…
