Octopus Go and BST to GMT

Is there an extra hour for those on Octopus Go tonight and one less hour in March when we go from GMT to BST. Or do Octopus just stick to the 4 or 5 hour charging window regardless.
Be interesting to know how it works as not sure my charger will adjust when the clocks go back.

Hi - Economy 7 runs on GMT throughout the year, so if, for example your hours are 00:30 to 07:30 GMT in the winter they're still 00:30 t0 07:30 GMT in the summer, when the clocks are saying 01:30 to 08:30 BST.I expect that the Octopus tariffs work the same so providing your charger doesn't adjust itself automatically tby an hour everything will continue to work as it is now.0

The smart tariffs adjust to match GMT/BST changes, they do not stick with GMT all year round. So yes, that does lead to a longer/shorter low-rate period as the clocks change, but of course it evens out over the year as a whole.

Thanks for the info.0

Sorry to bring back an old thread...I was asking the same question and got the reply below from Octopus.energy.Hi x, We hope this email finds you well Thank you for reaching out to us. The cheap rate of 00:30-04:30 is based on GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). It does not change with the clocks going forward or backward for BST (British Summer Time). If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.Kind regards, AidenOn Wed, 24 Apr 2024 at 10:02, X wrote:Hello,Please could you advise if the cheap rate of 00:30-04:30 is GMT or BST or does it change as to the clocks we go by.Thank you0

I think Aiden is wrong. Pretty sure go was always the same local time.
E.g. start 0030 GMT and start 0030 BSTPPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)2 -
Octopus has a history of giving confusing/wrong answers on this. Very much in line with the general public's confusion on the meaning of GMT. When Aiden says it "does not change", chances are that means with respect to local UK time (which is not GMT over the summer months).

Here is the tariff information pulled from the Octopus API, which is used for billing:
You can see from the above that peak times are currently from 03:30:00Z to 23:30:00Z and off-peak from 23:30:00Z to 03:30Z. The Z stands for zulu (military) time (UTC = GMT). So BST off peak times are from 12:30 to 04:30. And if you go back to March, look what happens:
When you receive your next bill, do scrutinise it. I guarantee you you'll be charged off peak between 00:30 - 04:30, and if you are able to match your usage data to things you were doing at a particular time, you'll be able to verify the bill uses BST not GMT. Here's my bill for 26th March last year when I was on the Go Faster 0330-0630 Tariff:
I wonder why there is a half hour slot from 00:30 to 02:00...0
