Cable to connect router to printer
Please could someone tell me which Ethernet cable I need to buy to connect my Canon Pixma printer to my Eero router. I have taken a couple of photos below of the ‘holes’. I found something online that said cat 5, however looking at pictures of the cat 5, I am not sure it will be right. Thanks.

I've used this for everything while I've had it and so I'e just blown the dust off my old Toshiba laptop which must be 7 - 8 years old and plugged it in and checked it's working I'm just wondering about security - will I need anything 'extra' just because it's an…

Digital home phone switchover - PSTN nerds needed!
Second floor flat Copper phone line comes in via bedroom window and master socket sits on the sill there. I wired a twisted pair cable from the master socket, up into the loft and down through the ceiling into the hall in the centre of the flat where it ends in phone sockets into which the wireless router and DECT base are…

WhatsApp issue
Hi I tried to back up my WhatsApp on my current phone as I was trying to prepare for my new phone. WhatsApp kept getting stuck on 'preparing back up' both on wifi and cellular modes. It did seem to work on cellular eventually except the last back up date showing was from 4 years ago. I checked my Google drive account and…

Where do you buy your computers and/or parts from? eBuyer ok?
I was considering a new cheap laptop. My PC is Windows 10, doesn't support Win11 (let's not start talking about try Linux) & I don't know when I'll get round to building another PC or even buying one so had considered a new laptop on the cheap end as it wont be doing anything intensive. I've used eBuyer since I can't even…

Power cable for old laptop
I have dug out a very old 11" HP Stream laptop to use for a photo project but can't find its power cable. The socket is smaller than the usual standard size so none of my existing charger cables will fit. I need to know the technical name/size of the smaller connector so that I can buy the right one on line. Can anyone…

OPPO A76 phone cannot see Bluetooth device. Edit: Solution found.
Edit: DullGreyGuy has sorted this out for me. I will leave the thread as is in case it helps anyone else. My wife and I both have
identical OPPO A76 phones running Android 13. We also have a Sony

Best recordable gadget for a teen who enjoys singing?
Looking for a gift for around £15-£40 if possible - I know, I'm a cheapskate but this is a moneysaving site! Basically I have grandchildren who like to sing (and dance) and am wondering if there is a gadget that they can sing songs on/through, that records it too? UPDATE: Needed for an iphone (or possibly an ipad) I got…

Argh, having to go W11 :-(
With 10 about to lose support, and old PC beginning to creak, I've had to jump. New PC is, of course, W11. Even my old PC was insufferable with W10, so I had Classic Shell installed to make the interface like '7'. There's a way to make the 11 more like 7, isn't there? What have folk used? Ta.

I seem to have just made a ton of space on my hard drive & not sure how?
Windows 10 1TB Samsung SSD Had about 80GB remaining on it. I emptied the recycle bin & it went up minimal. Say 82GB after the empty. This was yesterday. Today I'm at 183GB free space, yet I've deleted nothing further. I've had a gander around & can't see anything obviously missing. How does that work then? I'm not…

Best way to track someone
I know there's various tracker apps, some paid for & some not so right at the start let's discount the paid for apps. OH is going to London by themselves in a few weeks & they're the one who wants to be able to be tracked, so we can also discount the 'spying on' side of it as well. They live in Apple-Land whereas I'm an…

Microsoft Money Help
I am still using Money and find it invaluable. The working file has 30 years of data but the MS back up is not working. I can physically copy the 30000KB file to the back up location with no problem but the MS back up prompts me to find another location because it is not big enough! I see there is an option to archive but…

Norton (through BT) big update
I guess most here avoid paid for AV and I would usually too, but Norton is free (via BT or EE or whatever they're called this week) and so use it purely for that reason. It's just had a big update and introduced processes all over the place so I've just zapped it on my PC. And just found it running amok on a neighbours…

Swapping data to new clamshell phone
For me a smartphone was a step too far so desktop PC and clamshell phone only. Existing Doro 0260 phone is 3G so I need to replace it very soon. This will mean transferring a fairly long list of contacts and my usual younger family helpers all plead ignorance. The only Youtube videos I can find use bluetooth to make the…
