Create a facebook check in

How do i create a facebook check in venue?. Most venues come up on facebook when you tap 'location'. I have looked on google and other search engines without any simple instruction. I tried following this but the 'check in' is now location and there is no add (venue name), I'm baffled.

How to Create a New Check‑In Venue (Mobile App Only)

  1. Open the Facebook app on your phone.
  2. Tap “What’s on your mind?” to start a post.
  3. Select “Check In” from the options.
  4. In the search bar, type the name of the venue you want to create.
  5. Scroll down and tap “Add [Venue Name]” — this appears only if Facebook can’t find an existing place.

I don't think you're missing anything. The instructions you've found appear to be for an older version of Facebook.

It used to be exactly as described, you selected Check In, searched for the venue and if it wasn't there you got an option to add a new place.

FB now seems to have changed Check In to Location for many users, and the option to create a new place doesn't necessarily appear. There are other people reporting exactly the same thing, so I wouldn't keep hunting for an "Add venue" button that isn't there

If this is for a business or other permanent venue, the better route now is to create or update its FB page with the correct physical address and location details. Also make sure FB has permission to use your phone's location.

Unfortunately they seem to have made something that used to be very simple considerably less simple!

It appears that way, thanks anyhow for your reply.

It was for my Daughter who will be taking over a small Cafe calling it the tea pot.

There are many people like myself who use the check in feature, especially pubs etc, she was asking me to create the venue check in but, seems more harder than i expected.
