Microsoft Money Help
I am still using Money and find it invaluable. The working file has 30 years of data but the MS back up is not working. I can physically copy the 30000KB file to the back up location with no problem but the MS back up prompts me to find another location because it is not big enough! I see there is an option to archive but…

Norton (through BT) big update
I guess most here avoid paid for AV and I would usually too, but Norton is free (via BT or EE or whatever they're called this week) and so use it purely for that reason. It's just had a big update and introduced processes all over the place so I've just zapped it on my PC. And just found it running amok on a neighbours…

Swapping data to new clamshell phone
For me a smartphone was a step too far so desktop PC and clamshell phone only. Existing Doro 0260 phone is 3G so I need to replace it very soon. This will mean transferring a fairly long list of contacts and my usual younger family helpers all plead ignorance. The only Youtube videos I can find use bluetooth to make the…

AI chat bots and GDPR rights
I recently had a very bad customer service experience with an AI chat bot. I didn't consent to giving my details to this AI bot. I thought I was through to customer service, as it was given various real person like names. It seems now many companies are using their customers for this AI experiment, without considering the…

Dowmloading Google Maps for when off-line.
Hi.Had the most stunning walk around Morwenstow, but noticed my Pixel 6 was offline for much of it.Wanted to check our location, and Google Maps could pinpoint us ok, and I could then work out the paths to take back to base, but the 'directions' feature wouldn't work as it was 'offline' - ie no interweb signal.I'm guessing…

Any ideas re noise detector that links to phone app?
We have an alarm at home but it does not connect to the outside world if/when it goes off. I therefore wondered if anyone knows of a small device that I could put near the alarm's klaxon which would (perhaps in conjunction with IFTTT?) notify me via a phone app when it goes off. That would be really useful. Many thanks.

Why has my laptop screen gone darker?
I have a HP laptop about 18 months old. During the last few hours I have noticed the screen is not as bright !!!!!! it should be. Usually this darkening happens if the battery is running down and it needs plugging into the mains and the brightness comes back. Today plugging it in makes no difference. I have gone into…

Oh my Word.
My old PC has a registered copy of Office Pro Plus 2016. My new PC does not. This copy is, however, registered to daughter as a student, and she has just completed her edu, so I can see that coming to an end :-( I only need Word itself, and not even a fancy version. Paying an ongoing subscription for 365 is not an option I…
