Windows 10 PC - change to running google

We have a HP Pavilion desktop PC running Windows 10.

The machine is quite powerful and more than capable of upgrade to Windows 11. However virtually everything we do is on Android phone or tablet. Mainly Gmail, web browsing, some word docs and some spreadsheets.

I am a bit fed up with Microsoft and all of the constant upgrades that seem to cause issues.

Is it possible to get rid of it and replace it with everything google?

I have replaced old Windows machines with Linux in the past so reasonably competent!!!!!

Yes it is possible to install ChromeOS Flex.

Generally it's talked about installing it on laptops, which makes them into Chromebook-like devices, but it can be installed on Desktop computers too.

It's also generally talked about installing it on non Win11 compatible machines, (as an alternative to Linux), but there's no reason why you couldn't put it on a Win11 compatible machine.

I've installed ChromeOS Flex on quite a few machines and I like it.

You can now get it preinstalled on a USB key which cuts out some of the initial techie setup work but the price has recently gone up from £3 to £9.99 so it's a bit less compelling

If you've got a suitable USB stick already and a bit of tech knowhow / patience to follow online guides then trying ChromeOS Flex need not cost anything - and as you can boot it from the USB key you can see if it's compatible / you like it before committing to full installation.
