I have an old Panasonic box which I was able to record programmes with and then watch them later and skip through the adverts etc. Is there a way I can connect this to my new TV, and still use this facility. Reorganising the Android apps. Is this possible?
Samsung Galaxy S24+ here but assume it's an Android thing not a Samsung thing. Swipe up & see your list of apps - that's what I'm referring to. Is it possible to change the order? I'm not talking about dragging to the home page & positioning them where you want, I'm talking about the list of apps. Reason being - because if…

Smart extension sockets.... That have decent cord length?
We have numerous Tapo devices in the house including the singular smart plugs & also the 4-gang socket extension which has a cord length of about 1.5mtr. I just need something a bit longer really. 2mtr minimum, maybe 4mtr as a play safe in future. Doesn't have to be Tapo but then there lays the problem.... So far Tapo has…

Is this a good tablet deal?
I have been mulling over the idea for a tablet device but never really sure what I would use it for. Last week I was at a workshop event and everyone was there with their laptops for when they needed to present plus a device for taking notes. My device for taking notes was a pad and pencil. I felt like a bit of a dinosaur…

Anyone use Microsoft Clipchamp video editor?
I'm using a win 10 laptop. I have a few videos (mp4) and I'd like to extract stills from certain parts of them as jpegs. I've downloaded Clipchamp but I can't see how to save bits as jpegs. I've got a Moto G32 smartphone and my storage is very nearly full (mostly with apps). I've seen videos on Youtube of people…

I'm being forced to install Microsoft 365
I bought a copy of Microsoft Office because I want to own it outright, not pay a subscription. I have downloaded the Office Setup program and when I launch it, i get a window headed Microsoft 365 And Office. I'm concerned that if I proceed I will get charged a subscription for Microsoft 365, which I emphatically don't…

Watching Apple TV Slow Horses Using a Chromecast Dongle

Is there such a thing as an automatic light switch?
Hi all I’m not sure if there’s such a thing as the device I am imagining. I am looking for a light switch for my home that looks and acts like a normal on/off light switch 99% of the time. However, the other 1%, when I go on holiday, I want to be able to switch the lounge/bedroom lights on at various, random times. I guess…

Password Manager with easy Android Integration (and YubiKey)
My wife & I are longterm LastPass users, sharing one account with two sub identities, which saves cost and can be useful if we ever need to log in for each other. We have YubiKeys which add an extra, non password level of security, which I think is essential. Especially since the poorly announced LastPass security breach a…

Hard wiring a camera doorbell
Am considering getting a camera doorbell that I can hardwire into existing doorbell circuit as a replacement for the bell push we have fitted. What I am struggling with is that the current circuit is a simple 2 wire effort so one core of the doorbell wire carries the voltage and the second core connects the voltage to the…

Android no longer columnizes text on website
For years I have been able to read MSE easily on my phone because the text was automatically arranged in columns like in the second picture. A few weeks ago, it inexplicably switched to displaying text I can hardly read, as in the first picture. Changing to another browser doesn't fix it, and other websites aren't affected…

Apple watch Cellular model cheapest connectivity
I bought my apple watch Cellular model without doing enough research and now find that to use the cellular feature causes more disruption than expected. The sim plan in my phone is Lebara (£5.00 a month) but I am informed that Lebara do not do a plan for an apple watch only an iPhone. So as far as I can tell; to use the…
