Virgin e-mail sign in problem
I have a desktop PC and a Chromebook. I do not have a smartphone. On the Chromebook I use Virgin to access e-mails. Signing on to the Chromebook e-mail today I get a message to sign in or register for Virgin Media 02. I have not signed out and wonder if this is the result of a system update. I enter my usual password and…

KVM software, virtual machine or something else?
I will shortly be replacing my 8 year old Win10 desktop with a much higher spec Win11 one. I am hoping that some of the antique software I use will still work on the new one, but if it doesn't and I can't find acceptable replacements, then on the face of it I have two options, but please feel free to come up with any…

Forgive my ignorance but I really don’t understand what a fire stick is, especially whether it is an Amazon thing or generic. i have two Samsung smart TVs. One can no long access streaming services other than BBC iplayer. I understand this is because the apps have changed and I now need a fire stick. There seem to be…

Is this possible?
I've been trying to find out how to log out of my Gmail account on my phone but it seems it's not possible as it would delete the account? I thought you should be able to log in and out when necessary. Am useless with technology 🙄

Recommendations for a 55" TV, circa £400.
In essence, a 55" WiFi (they all are, I know) TV. Factors that would help; an easy-to-use OS as it'll be WiFi operation only. So, Freely and Chrome sound like good options, but open to other suggestions. And, slimness is nice, tho' not a major factor. Circa £400. Thanks

No 'telephone' cable - what would you do for internet?
Hi. Old building, divided into flats, with this one fifth up, near t'top. No existing telephone line. What would you do for decent BB? Enough for general use, Zooming, and movie streaming - say 75Mbps or up. Get fibre in? Or go 'air'? Ta.

Food for thought if you use passwords + 2FA/MFA (and who doesn't :-)
The MFA You Trust Is Lying to You – and Here's How Attackers Exploit It A bit OTT but an interesting read. I fully agree that SMS/text is (or should be) dead -- I avoid organisations which still use that. But I am not convinced that 2FA/MFA is yet on its last leg although it's clearly not a solution for the future. Alas,…

Copilot - spooky !
I've used copilot a lot in the last year. Yesterday I needed to upload it a file for its opinion. So, for the first time I needed to login, which I did via my Microsoft account. I understood that when you log in it saves the conversations. Remember - I have never logged in before yesterday. But when I looked at the history…

GPS Alimeter
Altimeter apps measure height by reference to a map (location-based) or by GPS alone. The GPS method can provide some very dubious readings. Is GPS alone an accurate method of measuring height above sea level?

How to get best Display with old PC?
I only use my PC for surfing so when I recently decided to upgrade my Win10 PC I went for a second hand Win11 PC from eBay, that was cheap but does the job. Only thing is that despite the new PC being a better spec than my old pc, weirdly it does not have a HDMI or DVI ports. So I'm having to VGA to VGA to my monitor and…
