Ideal tablet for video calls only
My Nan is in her 90's and has had a mobile phone since Covid for video calls. She now lives in a care home so doesn't need data and we think it's time to move from a smartphone to a tablet so she has a bigger screen, she only uses the phone for WhatsApp calls with family. I've seen some SIM only deals, eg £5/month with 5GB…

Data "lost" in mobile or Windows
I use my local library for internet access, but have a small amount of data on my mobile for urgent access out of library hours. I use it as a hotspot for an old laptop running Windows 10. Some websites with ads, particularly those with video, could easily eat up my data How can you minimise, or even stop, the data loss? Is…

How can I stay financially safe on Android?
Hi all I am an iPhone user for as long as I can remember and I use it as my main phone every day. I love it! However, as I get older, I am finding Apples restrictions getting slightly more annoying as the weeks pass. This is not helped by my mate showing me what he can do on his Android phone that I can't do on mine. So,…

Passkeys and Bitwarden
Hey guys, Does anyone use the combination of passkeys and Bitwarden? I thought I'd dip my toe into passkeys by adding them to an Outlook account which isn't very important. Worked fine on desktop mode, with Bitwarden storing the passkey (and perhaps the laptop?), but on my Android phone a different story. First Chrome…

Thunderbird email software
Does anyone use the new version, at url https://www.thunderbird.net/en-GB/desktop/ ? I currently use Thunderbird Nebula version, which is excellent, though a little slow transferring emails to folders. Wondered whether the new software is an improvement.

Looking to buy a printer that can print on card (for clock cards)
Hi all Can anybody suggest a printer that I can use to print clock cards on for work? In the picture shown you can see that we have a HP printer that used to do the job perfectly, but of late the computer is giving up the ghost. Basically, its just an excel file with all employee names in tabs. We press print and the…

Label making machine..?
Looking at buying one of these to get a few things a bit more organised around the home. Sure I could just get a paint pen or something but I thought doing it this way would just look a bit better. Anyway, quite surprised to see such a wild variation in prices for these things for something that just spits a label out.…

Holiday WiFi
Later this year, will be going to a campsite in France and, as per usual, the reviews state the free camp WiFi is poor and even if you pay for an "enhanced" service it is still poor, as in slow and/or difficult to connect to. I don't want to be spending all my time clustered round the reception area along with everybody…

mAh value? On replacement rechargeable battery..?
I have a Dyson V6 hand-held car vacuum and the battery seems to be going. Looking for a replacement, I see that I can get fairly readily either a 9000mAh thing or a 6000mAh - either allegedly to suit this model - but not so readily a 1200mAh job which is actually the original one in situ and on the blink. Does it matter if…

Viewing Chromebook on TV scree
My wife is a semi invalid with very limited vision so does a lot of on line shopping. I use a chromebook to select items of interest and display them on an 18"TV beside her chair. Unfortunately her vision has deteriorated further and she cannot see the items clearly. I rarely watch TV, using the chromebook when I do so the…

Connecting Samsung phone to TV
Hi, is there a way to connect a Samsung A52s 5G to a (non-smart) TV (to be able to watch on bigger screen)? I can use Smart View (connected to xbox) but it lags/buffers due to unstable internet connection (using mobile data as no wifi), so I'd like to bypass the xbox and connect directly to TV. I have decent signal/speed…

Start Menu issue
Hi, I have a four year old Fusion 5 windows 10 tablet which has worked fine until recently, but is now unuseable because the start menu constantly opens and closes, it starts off slow and then rapidly opens/close so it's impossible to use. I have searched online for solutions but can't seem to find my exact issue and I…

[Solved] Techie question about tin cans.
HiIt seems steel for tin cans needs to be virgin steel as produced in Blast Furnaces - not recycled steel as produced in modern Electric Arc Furnaces. This quote..."Cans used for food require tin-coated, ultrathin sheet steel made from molten iron." This quote..."Tin-plate is made with steel derived from molten iron, but…

Can I scan in this table of numbers and get excel to open it in a table?
Hi all i enjoy playing with statistics etc, and also enjoy a bet on the races. As you can see in the image, this is a table of stats, which I think is self explanatory. So, you can see that the column where I’ve written the letter ‘A’ in Red shows the percentage of wins from runs. For some reason, this newspaper doesn’t…

New laptop for video editing advice
I have about 2000 video clips each ranging from 2 to 4 seconds long that I want to combine into one big video. I then want to add some music to play in the background throughout the video. I don't need any other fancy video editing features. Do you have any advice on a laptop that I could buy to do this on? I'm not looking…

Google security contradiction
Google is paranoid about security. But it requires me to be signed in to use the chatgpt app, just because I installed it using play store. This means that unless I sign in every time I want to use the app, the security of my google account is compromised by having to remain signed in. Ridiculous! Or have I misunderstood ?
