U tube age verification selfie
How dangerous is it to upload a selfie for u tube age verification? Everything online says it's a no-no. Adult kids said I'm being neurotic. Any viewpoints would be appreciated.

How does a selfie verify one's age?
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0 -
That's one of the options, others being to upload photo government ID or credit card details.

I don't log into Youtube but I wouldn't be sending pictures of myself to verify, but maybe others would.

I've already done this. Definitely didn't want to do it but adult kids said I'm being neurotic. They wanted to watch a film that requires age verification and as I had a Google play balance, it's my picture out in the online realm. Can my ID be stolen? Wondering how dangerous doing this, is

I've seen selfie age verification on a few sites. It often done by Agego or similar. They say they don't store your picture.
Come on you Irons1 -
There are lots of ways ID can be stolen but from just a picture, unlikely.

Every single time you buy something in a shop, certainly if you use a self service till, you will be video recorded and they will have your payment card details. How is this any worse?

It's also likely to be the case it's only going to be an AI making a judgement on the age of the uploader (even if that's nowhere near a robust mechanism) rather than storing it as a video or whatever is uploaded
(You'd have to read the T&Cs of whatever third party age verification system is in place to be sure)
Overall though, I don't think its a risk at all. We're captured on CCTV all the time and that doesn't lead to any danger (civil liberty aside)1 -
I've had to do it recently for Xbox age verification as I have a Solitaire subscription - they say they don't store the photos. As other have said there are loads of shops that will have both my card details and pictures of me via CCTV so I didn't see any additional scares in doing so.

I've never been asked for age verification on YouTube before.
I do watch YT via Firefox with an ad blocker if that matters?
Anywhere else I may be asked for age verification I turn the VPN on & is seems to do the trick.
