Mobile camera for concert photography

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good camera phone for taking photos (or very short clips) at concerts or other events with similar lighting?

Budget wise, I'm looking at around £700 (or a little more if there's a big leap in quality).

Ideally, I don't want it to be any larger than 6.3

All opinions appreciated - thank you.

I'd think a well-reviewed telephoto lens with a good-size sensor could be a great help. I am looking at similar scenarios and am almost at the point of buying a Xiaomi 15T Pro (other contenders are various Oppo Find X Pro phones). Has v good reviews for the camera bit and a capable telephoto. Price, if you search a little, can be found around £500 new.

If you are looking at something to take the usual "wobbly view from row Q" (tiny figures on stage 2/3rds obscured by heads and other camera phones - crappy sound optional) then it's not going to matter if you spend £150 or £1500.

Anecdotally, Google Pixel phones have had the best cameras at their price points, the 10 just sneaks into your budget/size (although you might want to look at bigger RAM model if using for filming - more ££ natch).

If you don't mind second hand then a Samsung galaxy S25 ultra is worth a look.

If you want to stick with a mobile phone, then Google Pixel 8, Apple iPhone 15 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S24 would all do the job at your budget.

If you're doing this seriously and can therefore get permissions from the venue to take in a camera, then Sony A6400 or Fujifilm X-S10 will give much better images & films.

You don’t want to spend more than £700 on a phone? You will have to go for a challenger brand like Fairphone or something. You’ll never get Android or Apple for that money I don’t think. Maybe the iPhone Air. It’s Apples slimmest phone ever.

I can’t vouch for the camera quality on a non branded camera. I once had a Nokia Lumia that took great photos. I don’t think they still make that.

U-Tube & the many phone reviews would be the best place, on most phones.

I suspect they mean "top of the line, overly expensive" phones, rather than Android generally. I'm still puzzled as to why anyone would pay more than about £200 for a phone, but each to their own.
