When you use your phone to read ebooks are you using the Kindle app?
In other words, are you happy to only read ebooks sourced from Amazon?

other e-reader brands are available.
It will depend on whether you just want an e-reader, whether you want it to function as a tablet as well, and where you are planning to source your books from.

I've got all my books via kindle send to email. All in epub format.
Don't want a tablet because the screen is to glaring.

A Kindle doesn't directly support epub, emailing them will convert to azw, azw3 or kfx format.

You need to be quite precise about where you source your ebooks from because not all ebook readers will read all ebook formats.
If you are using Amazon's Kindle site for ebooks then the obvious choice of ebook reader is one of theirs.
There's usually a decent selection of refurbs too.
Are you just reading "ordinary" books (so just text) or do you need colour for graphic novels/comics?

if you use library books, you also need to check whether whatever e-reader you choose can accept that format. Kindle didn’t used to, but I think maybe it can now.
You can’t read Amazon Kindle books on the kobo. There used to be a workaround involving third-party software got too complicated for me in the end
I have a kobo which I do like, but because of my particular library format it does mean having to download library books onto my laptop and then transferring them over instead of being able to download them straight onto the e-reader
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I have Three Kindles - first two no longer registered but lots of books on them which I occasionall dip into .
The one I use moste of the time is the Paperwhite. You can adjust the brightness and I basically carry it around with me most of the time - even when out.

I too have a Kindle Paperwhite. It’s the 7 inch version. It runs for ages on a charge. While novel, unless you are an avid reader the Kindle Unlimited subscription can work out expensive.
Mostly I read non fiction books while on holiday, and purchasing the odd book or two every 2 or 3 months is fine for my use.
Beware that some publishers dislike ebook users and charge more for an ebook than a paperback. They clearly live in a bygone age.

My first was a Kindle Keyboard bought back in 2010, I replaced it in 2015 with a Paperwhite 3 for the backlight. I've used a Kindle every single day since I bought into them. You've all got me wondering if it's time to update ;)

Is paper white the best one ? Maybe I can get the best model but a few years old?
