Emails getting HIDDEN

My wife has an android email problem - on Gmail (program) - 2 different contacts with Gmail addresses - emails from these contacts arrive but as soon as you select them to read - they vanish (hidden?) - only to return when you return to the previous page ! This makes them unreadable…….it doesn't do it when I send her an email from my non-Gmail account.

Any suggestions as to why and a fix ?

Does the same thing happen if the email is accessed via a browser?

If I wanted to do this deliberately then I'd set up a filter to send mails from a particular address straight to Archive (the Skip the Inbox (Archive it) option). Assume there's no such rule?

Do the hidden mails appear if you take the All Mail label on the left sidebar?

She can't access Gmail from her browser !

The emails are not actually being moved/deleted - just temporarily hidden - so its not a RULE

I think that it's something to do with LABELS

Can't access Gmail via a browser? Using Chrome, if you are logged into your Google account it's more or less built in.

Should have asked, is your wife's email a gmail account? Not something else being accessed through the gmail client?

It IS a gmail account - running on gmail app !

It makes no difference at all…

The hidden emails do reappear when you close and reopen the app - but disappear as soon as selected again to read !

Its still only from gmail account emails that it happens on..

Any chance that what you are seeing when the dodgy emails are selected is the email contents displayed as a blank page, in other words the formatting is up the wazoo?

This is why I was asking about accessing these emails on a different device/software - trying to rule out a Gmail app glitch and maybe display the contents.

There's no feature that I know of that just makes emails disappear/reappear.

Address the inability to access gmail in a browser, because this makes it sounds like there's more going on.
