If you know who they are from or key words in the subject, use the search function to find out where they are “disappearing” to

Hard to work out clicking the Gmail icon from within Chrome or other browser is a "hassle". Some people won't help themselves!

MoD - i only realised/thought about being able to see Gmail via a browser this year.
it's so simple, just go to Gmail on a browser and its as simple as email then password, its no hassle at all.
then you can continue with previous advice given already.
