Halifax Banking app
I am more than happy with my bank,Halifax. I have been using on-line banking for quite a while and everything runs smoothly. Yes,there is now a ‘but’ coming. Yesterday I wanted to query why a payment I had made was not showing in the pending payments or my statements. A simple question. There was no contact phone number…

Why do some people think *gratuities* should always be paid?
A number of years ago the Advertising Standards Agency gave advice that non-optional charges should be included in the total cost, or at least made explicit (if memory serves me correctly). Lots of places, from restaurants to cruise ships, expect people to pay tips - sometimes a significant proportion of the total cost. I…

Do they still think they will get customers by telling them the price is only available today?
People were wandering around the estate where I live pedalling roof cleaning and painting so I asked the bloke roughly how much it would cost as my roof could do with a clean to remove moss. Of course he couldn't tell me because a surveyor had to come to my house and conduct a survey with my wife and I present so I said OK…

Great customer service with Amazon
.I bought Walkers English Creamy Toffee - 500gms without realising the order is set for monthly delivery and I'm unable to contact the seller to cancel. I did an online chat with an 'associate' (Why call them that instead assistant?) who cancelled any further deliveries and got a refund too. Very impressed.

Insurance2go Praise
I had to make a claim on my OnePlus Nord 4 with Insurance2go after it stopped charging properly. The whole process was smooth and simple, and I got the newer OnePlus Nord 5 after they couldn't repair it.

Gardening Express and s a dreadful company
Hello, I also purchased on the 09/06/24, 15 bareroot roses from Gardening Express website, I t took over two weeks before they arrived. Of the 15 bareroot roses 9 did not come up. I did receive an email from Customer Service from Lizzie to ask me to do a stem test which is what I did and I sent it back. I’ve sent over 13…

British Gas, mistake what is acceptable compensation in this situation?
Hello people, newbie here. I've been a British Gas customer since 2005, I've always paid by direct debit, have a smart meter and my account has always been in good standing and I have never been in debt with them. As such it came as a massive surprise this September while on holiday in the USA to receive an email from a…

Giving away stuff for free - timewasters !!!!!
Had 5 very large (3ft x 2ft) patio slabs to give away last weekend. Thought if someone else wanted them and it'd save me paying someone to take them. I'm sure some people see FREE and want whatever it is....... I put in the advert in big letters - THESE ARE VERY HEAVY. YOU WILL NEED TO PICK THEM AND LOAD THEM YOURSELF…

opsnap / operation snap / police dash cam footage submitting - waste of time.
First off because I know someone will come with it - "there's bigger problems going on", go ahead with that nonsense point. What a waste of time this is, submitting dash cam footage to the police for various offences. I'd seen people complaining about how they were 'done' by the police on the back of someones footage. I…

Anyone nearly been duped to pay online for insurance when ringing to pay over the phone?
I have been at the receiving end of what I see as a possible deception tactic by a well-known building society today. I have contents insurance with this building society and do not bank online nor do anything online with them. I received my renewal reminder from them in the post which said I could contact them to ask for…

British Airways Miss-selling
Way back on 24th April, after many inquires and being pushed around multiple departments because no one seemed to know the answer, I finally got the answer. I wanted to book a return flight to Nairobi, leaving in August and returning the following June (2026) As booking more than a year in advance is not possible I wanted…

Naked Wines - no fuss response
I recently ordered a nice case of wine where I selected the 12 bottles myself from Naked Wines. When the case arrived I opened it to find a completely different set of wines. I phoned them, and there was no fuss - they told me it was probably just a mislabelling in the warehouse, told me to help myself to a bottle from the…

I don’t normally fall for text scams but it caught me at a bad time when I was busy doing something else. This was the text I received, I now know it is a scam: Department for Work and Pensions official reminder: Our records show you have not yet applied for the 2025–2026 Winter Fuel Payment. Please click on the link to…

Avoid being fleeced for mail order
Like many older people, my Mother can't get out as much as she used to and, not being internet savvy, likes to be independent and order clothes by phone from Cotton Traders. This is a good company, selling clothes, shoes etc, aimed at those over 50, which sends glossy catalogues by post on a regular basis and allows…

Making Tax Digital - paying to be taxed
I've been self employed for 20 years and in that time have done my own accounts and filed my returns online myself. With MTD coming into play I find it wholly unreasonable that I should have to pay for a software to do the very thing I've done for free so far. Essentially paying to be taxed. Does anyone else feel this is…

Amazon - Mystery £8.99 charge
I am a member of Amazon Prime - my husband isn't. Yesterday a mystery £8.99 charge for Amazon Prime appeared on his bank account. Our immediate suspicion was that he had been unwittingly signed up for this while buying his railcard last night as the railcard site has a number of pop up voucher offers. Today we called…

Quidco is uncontactable
I did an insurance comparison with Quidco, but it didn't track, so I tried to contact them to look into it. You can't submit a claim for Quidco comparisons via their missing cashback form. Their contact email addresses are not working. I tried privacy@quidco.com, dar@quidco.com, and quidcosupport@quidco.com. All responded…

Just eat only giving credit notes
I’ve been using just eat recently due to having covid.I placed an order for 9 items from Asda, but only received 6 of them. I reported this to just eat who have given me a credit note instead of a refund, which I don’t want as I no longer have covid so don’t need to use them any more. The amount is not enough to cover the…
