Is it going to rain everyday in the UK forever now?
I feel like it's never going to stop raining now, feels like it's going to rain every single day for the rest of time?
Thing I don't understand is most countries when it rains it rains heavy but it's over pretty quickly. In our country it rains every so slightly but drags on for a week. Then by the time that cloud has dumped its water, another one has formed to replace it.

I seem to remember saying to fellow gardeners in the summer that I thought it would never rain again

To get a bit technical, there has been an area of high pressure stuck over Scandinavia since the start of the year, giving them stable, but cold, weather.
The jet stream is the huge movement of air that sends our weather across the Atlantic to us. This has been energised by a huge temperature difference in the Americas between very cold air over the north and warm moisture-rich air to the south.
This means that a succession of depressions, some that started as hurricanes over there , have been shot our way, and once they get here have run into the blocking high. It's been more unusual because the jet stream has been aiming a good few of them at Iberia, rather than the usual target of UK/Ireland.
Anyway the good news is that the Scandinavian high is now weakening and the jet stream is moving back to its normal behaviour so normal British weather should resume and there will be some dry days between the wet ones!

The winter of 1946/7 was absolutely devastating due to snow. The UK Narrowly avoided mass starvation thanks to humanitarian aid from Canada etc. then the snow melted and there was mass flooding.
Anticyclone stuck over Scandinavia caused it apparently

No it's not going to rain every day, on the days of doesn't rain it will snow and be icy interrupted occasionally by heavy storms, high winds and danger to life. Later this year summer will arrive and there will probably be water shortages. So, not to bad eh !

It is mainly related to the location of the UK.
We are surrounded by the sea on all sides, whereas countries like France, Germany, Spain etc are not.
Interestingly consider how North the UK is, it should be significantly colder than it is. All those clouds and rain coming over the Atlantic, actually means our Winters are generally quite mild considering our location.

Our rain is now snow, so it hasn't rained every day!

Some parts of the country have only had the hosepipe bans lifted in the last week or so.
