Unable to start new job due to positive Covid result - can I claim anything?
Hi there I have recently changed careers from an office 9 to 5 type job (which had company sick pay etc) and begun entry level work in TV production, which is of course very different to my last career and the environment I used to be in! The work tends to be for a few weeks or months at a time, as you tend to move from…

WFH Tax Relief - 2020/2021 Self Assessment (£312 or £320 or £324)?
Hi, I am amending a self-assessment for the 2020/2021 tax year and want to include the WFH tax relief. I believe from Martin Lewis' article, that you can include the additional two-weeks from March 23 2020 (2019/2020 tax year) for relief claim. 1/ Can you combine this into the 2020/2021 self-assessment? I never did needed…

Isolation advice
Myself and my son tested positive at weekend, my husband was displaying symptoms but tested negative on LFT's and has continued to do so all week. I ordered PCR through post for him (sight impaired so couldn't get to test centre on his own). This come back today as positive, even though LFT this morning was definitely…

Which company LFT is best?
So far we have 4 of these 1 Original NHS branded ones (more white less blue packaging) 2 Orient gene 3 SureScreen (Made in 🇬🇧) 4 Flowflex (more blue less white packaging) Which ones give nice results? I like Surescreen ones as they have less packaging. Looks wise, Flowflex look most fancy. NHS & Orient gene ones look meh.

Accounting for bounce back loan
Hi, really hoping someone might be able to help. A friend got a covid bounce back loan for business. He is aware that he can claim only the interest element of the repayments but obviously, the money he borrowed went into the business. HMRC requiring repayment of SEISS Grants
I have seen no details of this or any publicity but I am being told if you did not make an overall lower profit in the tax year 2020-21 you will be required to repay the SEISS grants you received, even though you may have struggled in the months the claims were made but been successful in securing new work later in the…

5% self assessment income tax penalty
Anyone else been notified by HMRC that they must pay a 5% penalty for late payment of 19/20 income tax, despite having agreed a Time To Pay arrangement? I'm pretty sure the deal was that if anyone agreed an arrangement by 1 April, the 5% penalty was waived, you just paid interest. And I signed up on 8 January. So I will…
