Ryanair - Covid docs even though restrictions lifted (Norway)?

Hi. I am travelling to Norway next week with my kids with Ryanair.

There are currently no covid entry requirements for mainland Norway (Svalbard has different rules, but we’re not going there).

I checked in online today and the Ryanair app is asking for covid passport to be uploaded. Is this mandatory? Or is it a generic app thing in case there are restrictions at the destination? In any case, I assume children do not have a covid pass – but the app is still asking for the docs for them?

Any advice much appreciated!

No, you can comfortably ignore the upload part. I've done this even when a negative LFD has been required for boarding due to country requirement and shown it to the ground handlers.

If Ryanair require any documents, they can request these at either the check-in counter or the gate. This has always been the case.

Thank you. There is no issue with showing/uploading a covid passport for me if required, but obviously no such document exists for the kids (at least as far as I am aware) - they have not been vaccinated.

Entry requirements are here for Norway. That advice is subject to change, but as of this morning pretty clear.

I'm a bit distracted at the moment and there shouldn't be any further questions, but if you have any I will get back to you later today :)

Thank you - I understand there are no entry restrictions at all for Norway (at the moment - subject to change of course). I was just wondering if Ryanair were asking for additional documentation (even if the Norwegian government doesn't want it)

But as far as I can make out the app is only asking for docs IF they are required by the destination country.

Yes, and even then you can be gate checked (please be prepared if a requirement is brought in).

  • Just an update on this. As we thought, there was no requirement to upload covid pass etc to the Ryanair app (even though it was asking for them).

Everything was a breeze apart from the very long (almost 2 hours) queue at Oslo Gardermoen Airport which was slightly frustrating but I guess is a side effect from leaving the EU (the lanes for EU and Norwegian passengers were much shorter).
