Refund from teletext holidays

Hi all. Is anyone else still waiting for a refund from a teletext holiday that was cancelled due to covid ? Me and my partner were meant to go to Cancun last September but it was unfortunately cancelled. We have been passed from pillar to post by what was teletext then truly travel plus the TTA and also the bank. If anyone is in the same situation as us please let us know to see if there are any other avenues we can go down.

You should begin by contacting the ATOL department of the CAA assuming you got an ATOL Certificate when you booked the holiday. Legally they take ultimate responsibility although the TTA who were supposed to be in charge of the trust account were appointed to deal with claims, but you are not alone. Contact details are on the front page of the Certificate.

Secondly, contact your local MP, they in turn, and many have already done so, will contact the government department with responsibility for package travel, alas the government minister who was investigating is technically no longer a minister until we get a new PM, but contacting your MP now is still a good idea.

Finally, report the matter to Citizens Advice, you can do this online or by personal attendance if there is a local office nearby. They will pass the details on to Trading Standards who ultimately have the power to take legal action against the TTA.
