FTPP and digging for cable
I was supposed get FTPP last week - via CityFibre with Zen. But engineer turned up quite late in afternoon and claimed they can't do it as it requires a cable to be laid by digging my driveway and they can only do it in daytime due to legal reasons! Anyway, spoke with Zen and now waiting for an alternate installation day.…

Charged for broadband before installation
I opened an account with Community Fiber on Dec 9 and booked an installation appointment for the 19. When I received the confirmation email, the renewal date is on 8 Dec and each month is being charged in full, including the first, in which I will have 10, days less of service. There is no warning on their website alerting…

BT “Loyalty Penalty Contracts”.
My partner works in the NHS saving lives. It’s a full on job and she gets very little time to herself especially when you add in her daily 50 mile commute. The prospect of telephoning insurance, utility companies in the evening when a) they’re often closed or b) she’ll wind up in a 45+ minute queue is frankly too much to…

MSE News: Easier broadband switching for Virgin Media customers and others delayed
Broadband customers switching to or from cable networks including Virgin Media, Hyperoptic and others will still have to contact both their new and existing provider when moving across, as plans to introduce easier 'one touch' switching from April 2023 have been delayed. Read the full story: 'Easier broadband switching for…

Is there any real difference between ISPs when on FTTC?
Looks like they all use Openreach core network anyway, so is there a difference between Plusnet, Shell etc.? Of course, I understand modem/routers, prices, support will be different but what about the actual connection/speed?

BT landline deal
This is probably a cross over question so I apologise in advance. I recently changed over to a BT Landline deal due to being on a specific benefit, everything was fine until recently when there was a problem with the internet dropping out every 15 minutes which of course meant that the VOIP phones do not work. I did…

Is getting a BT line installed worthwhile or are there other, cheaper broadband solutions?
We're looking to move to a house which doesn't currently have a BT phone line. Is it worth paying the £140 to have one installed for broadband, or are there most cost effective solutions out there? The 4g signal seems to be quite reasonable.

Upgrading To Full Fibre
Getting full fibre installed at my house in 2 weeks. Shell say I need to give Sky my notice to terminate (I'm not in a contract currently). Doesn't it just cancel automatically on the day it switches over? I don't want to give notice and then new full fibre can't be installed for whatever reason (no idea what's involved…

Is this legal these days?
My contract is up with TalkTalk next month so I was just looking on their site and for the Fibre 35 (I actually get 37mb) for new customers it is £27 a month for 18 months. I then clicked "if you are an existing customer check broadband deals" and there they are telling me they want £34 a month to extend my contract for 24…

NOW tv higher monthly price.
I've just clicked through from the MSE Broadband deal finder page where NOW Tv Super Fibre broadband is quoted as £23 per month only to be taken to the NOW website where it's shown as £24 per month. Is this just that MSE haven't kept up with NOW altering their price or could it be a misleading advert?

Virgin contract cancellation, can I sign up again as a 'new customer' afterwards?
My contract with Virgin ends in January after an 18 month introductory price offer. I'm going to send a letter to cancel the contract with the appropriate 30 days notice. Then that's that. Virgin are the only provider of fibre broadband where I live with speeds I 'need'. So after my contract is terminated, can I join them…

ADSL Filder and internet cable
I have been attempting to set up a new Netgear router to my desktop computer. The cable which comes with the router to connect to my ADSL filter appears to be 8 pin and is therefore not compatible. The cable for my old router to connect to the filter is 4 pin so is not compatible with the new router. I cannot work out if I…

I am currently with Nowtv BB and they have been ok, only got the Brilliant BB 11mb so not high user. My contract ends next month and there is a big price increase. Virgin media:(
Who's with virgin media here? My monthly bill went from £37 to £62. Last time when this happened I phoned them and complained. It's so annoying considering they're offering £30 per month for new customers. I will phone them again but I'm seriously thinking about leaving them even if I have to settle for a slower provider.…
