Openreach saying my FTTP connection can't be upgraded to 500mbps

Had FTTP installed in January this year through Vodafone.
Just ordered an increase in speed to 500mbps.....but Vodafone cancelled it the day before go live because apparently Openreach told them it can't be upgraded to that speed.
I thought the whole purpose of FTTP was to allow faster speeds......how is it possible that I'm unable to have them? Vodafone are incapable of coherently telling me why.

There are a few early adopters of FTTP that were on first generation ECI headends and ECI ONT’s , this combination had a maximum download of 330Mb ( it was very early generation gear probably a decade ago ) these ECI headends have been replaced with Gb capable headends from a selection of vendors, and any brand new customers in these former ECI headend areas can now order Gb speeds, but those addresses that already had an ECI ONT fitted are limited to the original 330Mb speed , not by the headend but by the first generation ONT that’s already fitted at the address ( the ECI ONT ) .
There are two possible solutions using ‘provision orders’ for these addresses with ECI ONT that can only currently get a max of 330Mb , order a second FTTP service, the new service is provided using Nokia or Adtran equipment, the old 330Mb service is then ceased once the new service is in and working, this does mean two ONT’s and two lead in cables , but means no break in service ( but potentially paying for two services for a short time ) or the ECI service is ceased and a new service ordered that uses Nokia or Adtran , the installer of the ‘new’ FTTP should recover the ECI ONT and reuse the lead in cable , this may have a break in service between the old service cessation and the new service provided and is not a guarantee as the ceased ECI may be reactivated if the ISP raises the wrong type of order ….neither option is an upgrade as such ( basically the existing ECI ONT can’t be upgraded to faster speed ) , there is also a potential ‘repair’ path , the ECI ONT is reported as faulty by the existing ISP , the OR tech visits and replaces the ‘faulty’ ECI ONT with Adtran or Nokia and updates the records to show Nokia or Adtran, the restrictions on the ECI ONT no longer exists and an upgrade can then be ordered .
All these ways to get faster speed are by installing Nokia / Adtran ONT , and need your chosen ISP to know what they are doing ( as far as giving the correct type of instruction for Openreach to carry out ) , your ISP may not know what they are doing.
Obviously this is only if you have a first generation ECI ONT at your address , if your ONT is already Nokia , Adtran or even Huawei , then it’s simply incompetence on the part of your ISP1 -

I suspect there is incompetence somewhere as opposed to old 300mbps kit.
The FTTP/ Fibre was put in as a fresh install in January 2024.
My supplier are saying it's the ONT that is speed limited and Openreach won't agree to replace it.... but this is it, and a reverse image search suggests it's an Adtran?
As a result of my complaint my supplier has agreed to end my contract 13 months early so i can move to another supplier fee free.....I am hoping if there is made problem somewhere a new supplier will resolve it as part of the provisioning....
