To cut a long story short, i'm FTTC with BT charging me a fortune and unwilling to reduce it. Plusnet and EE will not supply as my address is not in their postcode checkers.
Talk Talk looks to be offering me BB part fibre access for £28.00 which I'm open to.
Searching Talk Talk on this forum brings up a few complaints but all look to be quiet dated.

My parents have been with TalkTalk since 2002. No really big issues, they had problems with the phone once about 5 years ago but it was fixed after a few days.
They upgraded to FTTP earlier this year and that went really well. No problems at all since then (and their landline phone still works fine).

I have been on TT part fibre (Fibre 35) for more years than I can remember and have an absolute solid 33 mbps connection, the best I can get on my long line.
If your phone line is of decent quality then swapping to TT should be fine.
I have had two line disconnections due to Openreach errors but they were quickly resolved through TT.
The customer forum is also quite useful.1 -
They are still one of the bottom ISP's for customer service in the annual surveys.
I wouldn't touch them, unfortunately some family members chase the price to the bottom and use them having far more issues than others which are a nightmare to get fixed when it goes off the script for the service desk.
All fine when it works, nightmare when it doesn't.
Also consider their financial position. They were within weeks of going into administration this year and despite some refinancing are far from out of the woods.1 -

With Talktalk 5+ years with no issues
Cost at present £26
Now advertised at £28 but 150 is also £28 but I find 65 is sufficient for me.
If you could find a friend that has talktalk they could receive £50 gift card and you would also qualify after meeting the terms1 -
Been with them for at least 10 years and only ever had one problem, the internet kept breaking up and cutting off. I phoned them and they switched us to another channel and never had a problem since. I have to haggle with them when renewing as they always come up with a ridiculous price.1

Unless you are still inside a minimum term with BT , I don’t know why you are unable to negotiate a better price , BT are incentivising their customers to switch to EE , so potentially a better price for the same product will be from EE , your £28 from TT without knowing what it’s for , ( speed, telephone or not telephone , other ‘extras’ ) doesn’t really inform anyone , but for comparison EE basic ( 40Mb ) FTTC is £30, so not much more than TT .
As far as TT financing problems , if they went into administration, no doubt the customer base is a sellable asset , so another provider would take them over ( TT customers given no choice, they are just told the new provider is ‘***’ , provided the terms and conditions are maintained, customers have no real choice but to become customers of this ISP ( they can leave obviously , but that may have ETC if inside a TT minimum term ) , if no one wants the TT customer base ( unlikely ) BT are the provider of last resort ( in other words Ofcom force BT to take them on so they don’t lose service )
As far as a relative having phone only with TT , that pretty unusual, TT in the last 20 odd years have been a call carrier ( access codes to get cheaper calls on BT ) then they sold BT services under their own brand name , the last thing they did was to build a TT telephone & broadband network and they moved all their broadband customers from BT network onto their own , so the customers had no relationship with BT at all , those customers that wanted to stay with BT for phone and TT for broadband were told to find a new provider…..if your relative only has a phone service and pays TT for it , they are on a legacy product and it’s remarkable they are allowed to keep it , out of interest how much less than TT broadband and phone do they pay for TT phone only , I’d bet there is hardly and difference1 -

Shopping around bought up that my postcode doesn't bring up my correct address on some providers websites and they flatly refused to supply me. Those being EE and Plusnet, both owned by BT!
Talk Talk would supply at £28pm. So my final call with BT ended up with some guy virtually screaming at me that £49 is the cheapest because im on FTTC and HAVE to have a phone line.
My Mother in-law who lives next door is 91 and has had Talk Talk for years still with paper bills and doesn't like me interfering too much. I have managed to get her on line account with TT up and running. It appears at some point they have moved her to their Fibre35 with phone line and call package but not supplied any broadband. This isn't an issue as she doesn't require it and she's happy with her phone. She is also able to send me a referral link which I have used!
Phoned Talk Talk and all accepted at a lower £26pm. A £50 voucher for each of us and get to keep the phone line, not that I want it. Its being activated on Monday.0
