End Virgin broadband contact early

Hi,
As most people have had CityFibre connect in their area now was thinking to change provider from Virgin although I am stuck in a contract till next year with £400 to pay to get out early. I was speaking to virgin to see if they can do anything on the current price to get it down. They said they could get it down 7 8 quid but would mean going into a new contract which got me thinking, could I go into a new contract with them and end in the 14 day cooling period?
Is this a thing or because I'm already with them I cant?

It’s a bit optimistic to say the least thinking that it would be that easy to get out of a commitment by taking out a new deal and cancelling it within the cooling off period….to a certain extent, that’s what happens , the new deal is cancelled in the cooling off period, but the previous terms are reimposed, so there is no get out of jail free card….want to use CF , you either pay for both , pay ETC or wait until you can quit penalty free0
