Early Termination Fee when moving house

Hi,
Hope you are well.
Just after some advice if possible, i am currently with KCOM in a contract that ends in Febuary 2025, i am moving out of the Hull area and over to Manchester which is outside of KCOM's area of service, upon contacting them today they have advised me that as i am still in contract i would need to pay an Early Termination Fee, is this right?
I've read a couple of conflicting articles online and Ofcoms website wasn't much help either that say if your current broadband provider is not able to provide your current service at your new address they can and should waiver the Early Termination Fee, but others suggest you still have to pay :? #confused
It seems unfair to me that due to KCOM's monopoly in Hull and Hull alone that i should be charged to end the agreement when if they played nice with BT and others i could have taken the service with me.
Any advice on this would be welcome.
Thanks
Chris

I don' think you're going to get much luck with this, it is the same as if you were with Virgin & then moved to a non Virgin area - you'd have to pay the rest of your contract off.1

Then could waive them, but are not legally obliged too.
If they don't then you will have to pay what is on your terms and conditions. The early termination fee should be a calculation which is usually a fair bit less than your contract fee.0 -
You've left them unable to supply you by moving and have therefore you breached the terms of the contract you agreed to.Postpone your move to agree with the end of the minimum term in the contract to avoid the early termination fee.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20231

Thanks for the feedback, i know from speaking with other ex KCOM customers that they have had the early termination fee waivered but to be fair this was in the days before MS3 and Connexin rolled into Hull, I'd have a little more sympathy with KCOM if they weren't a monopoly greedy ISP and could provide me with the internet in my new apartment but I was choosing to go to another provider but I am not! Everyone has the right to move and if I lived within the 95% of the UK I could take my BT internet with me, like I say I personally think its wrong but if I have to pay, I have to pay. Thanks again for the advice.
