Smart Meter (from Octopus)?
Hi all - I have never had any desire for getting a smart meter and I send in my readings every month manually. I think years ago I had the fear that they could cut me off on a whim for no particular reason. I don't have solar, or an EV and am average/mid user for both fuels. Are there any really compelling reasons to get…

Scottish Power overcharged me for gas by factor of 2.83 for over a year
I put my escalating gas bills down to the general increase in energy prices but my suspicions should have been raised a lot earlier as SP bill said I was £1,000 in debit with them. It was only prompting by my neighbour (also with SP) to review tariffs/look elsewhere due to the 1st July price cap change that a massive error…

Northern Gas and Power.
I am looking for other people who have had a similar experience to my own. I was mis-sold a new energy and gas contract by Northern Gas and Power. Without wanting to go into too much detail on the matter. I was recently mis-sold a contract by Northern Gas and Power on one of their ‘blend and extend’ contracts. What I was…

Energy costs -Still not sure whether to change back to fixed rate
Hi I’m with Octopus tracker for both electricity and gas I see the advice to change from variable to fixed deals as soon as possible with the July hike approaching but I’m still not clear if I’m better off in tracker or if I should try to switch back to a fix? Anyone in that situation also wondering …

Advice on Tariffs
Hi all! Currently with EDF, my current tariff comes to and end 30 June 2026 and I've found one that doesn't completely wipe the floor with costs (I've recently been made redundant so trying to stretch the pennies until I find another job!). A few friends have suggested Octopus as they've had fantastic service with them. My…

To switch or not to switch...
I'm sure this is the most asked question but I'm a bit confused with the MSE comparison tool. I'm currently with EDF on their Fixed 26 paying £127 per month. I have a zero exit fee and was thinking of jumping before the rise on the 1st July which is also when my tariff expires, as it looks likely there is going to be at…

GBP20 offered as part deal to transfer energy
Back in February I changed from Octopus to British Gas as part of this deal I was offered GBP20. When will I get this paid to me & how?

British Gas renewing dual fuel fix
Hi all, My Mum is with British Gas and her fix ends tomorrow. On the app there is an option for a 14 month renewal. It compares the price of the fix to the price of the Standard Variable Tariff but it's not clear if the SVT prices are for before or after July 1. I contacted BG this morning and the guy I spoke to didn't…

Smart Meter Upgrade Misery
In April British Gas sent me an e-mail saying my smart meters were due for upgrade. They were the old gen1 version and due upgrade to gen2. I duly booked in the appointment and the smart meters were fitted without issue. The fitter assured me in a few days the British Gas app would update showing my new meters. The weeks…

British gas switch
Be aware of switch to British gas. switched using the link on this link, but after just 2 days told them I wished to go back to previous supplier. They said fine, but they delayed the switch back until after the cooling off period had ended and then added early exit fees to the bill. They tried to say the switch back…

Supplementary question after provider swap
We changed from Octopus to Fuse Energy at the beginning of June. Everything has gone well but I would like to ask about a situation where Octopus still have a credit balance on my account which they have yet to repay. As advised by Fuse I contacted Octopus when the switch first took place to request a refund, Octopus…

Totally lost trying to compare tariffs
I know the system is rubbish, and it's confusing on purpose. But it just feels so hard to properly compare which makes me nervous jumping. Currently with Octopus, on the flexible tariff after coming off the tracker. NW based. We had building work last year, so our energy use was high. Jan 25-Dec 25 works at: 5,342kwh…

British Gas - to switch or not to switch?
Hi, I'm currently on a fixed Octopus deal which ends at the end of July. The British Gas deal beats what Octopus can offer me but I either have to start it within a few days or after the 14 day cooling off period but that leaves me with at least two, more like three weeks overlap. Does that matter? I think I read Octopus…

British Gas switch to Aug27 rejected
I saw the newsletter about the new Fixed low tariff last night and immediately did a switch. I got CEC's "Switch in progress" email. Then, this morning, another email to say British Gas has rejected the switch. I'm a long-time British Gas customer on an existing tariff, expiring in July, within 49 days. I quickly did…

Smart Meter needs an Engineer Visit?
I signed up and had installed a smart meter with Octopus. I received a monitor from them. I purchased a Glow meter to enable me to send data to my computer. I registered the meter with Glow. All is well. I then transferred my account to OFTM, and after a few issues, all was well, since August 2025. The glow and the octopus…

EDF Sunday Saver free electricity tomorrow (Saturday)?
Has anyone else received a text message from EDF this afternoon telling them they have free electicity tomorrow? The message is in the same format as the usual Sunday Saver message, but I thought the whole idea was to qualify for free electricity on Sundays. I've tried calling them but lost the will to live after being on…

Updating Cheap Energy Club current tariff
I am on the dual fuel, dual rate electricity variant of BG's 'Nov26 Collective' tariff. Some years ago, I was able to switch to a single rate electric tariff with BG, despite still having a dual rate meter. All worked well and I was later able to chose new tariffs with BG (via their website) and still remain on single rate…

Anyone got EV Tariffs???
It seems to be a problem Energy companies only tell you the off peak cost of 1p for 26 weeks of electricity but omit to tell you the peak rate is £36726482 per second unless you spend 2 weeks filling out the forms. They all seem to do this which suggests it IS in fact working?? Ive been dumped onto British Gas variable…

British Gas switch
Just read the article re: new British Gas switch, I’m currently on the BG Collective Feb27 tariff and don’t want to pay early exit fees. The article says that BG will not charge these because you are remaining with BG, however, the fees are listed when I attempt to switch.
