Back billing - can I claim back?
Hi, Between 15 January 2023 and 15 March 2023, I was not charged for gas used from EON as my meter was broken, I contacted them to explain this and a month later an engineer came but no reading could be taken by the engineer off the old meter when he came to replace it. I hadn't heard anything from EON regarding billing…

BG Closed Account Incorrectly
My pension aged parents recently received a letter from British Gas welcoming them to the property and advising that they had recently provided the gas and electricity supply there. They've lived there for over 5 years and have been with British Gas for (I believe) the entire time. Turns out, they're account was closed…

EV charger with first generation smart meter
I have a first generation smart meter and after 6 months of fighting with EDF to be put onto the correct tariff and mediation from the ombudsman I'm still no further forward. The ombudsman concluded that as I was never informed that my smart meter was incompatible that the company EDF should upgrade my smart meter. EDF…

Intelligent Octopus Go/Eon next drive + a dehumidifier ifier
So the idea would be to get a heat pump eventually and that would obviously be the cheapest solution (in terms of running costs) Has anyone ran a dehumidifier during the cheaper hours and then put gas heating on after, to find that their heating costs were a bit cheaper? I can see that it'd probably be more expensive if…

High estimated gas bill after meter not working after change of provider.
Hi, we changed our gas and electricity supplier in November to EDF and something went wrong with the set up and the gas usage wasnt being registered. We contacted them when we realised and said we are happy to pay for what was missed, but asked if we would be able to spread across future bills rather than in one hit. They…

Octopus Profiteering!
Apologies for the clickbait headline. Octopus record a little over £11 profit per customer in the 12 months to April 2024 (or under £10 if you include non-UK customers) https://www.cityam.com/octopus-energy-profit-slashed-as-greg-jacksons-giant-battles-rising-costs/

Why do I have a gas charge when I didn't use any energy?
Hi all. Looking at the British Gas app, it seems I was charged for some gas I didn't even use. It was between 5.00-5.30am. I was asleep at the time. I don't have any central heating on and I've got an Ideal combi boiler. The gas I *did* use was a couple of hours later and that's not showing. What is going on?

Good afternoon, I am a landlord (small house, less than £100k and used my military leaving payment for a mortgage deposit). SO Energy have breached GDPR rules and somehow put my tenants 6 months of defaulted payments of £1300, her name, account number and address onto my credit report even though there is no connection…

Which fridge/freezer would be more energy efficient?
I’ve decided to get a new fridge/freezer and after having had a look at them on the shop floor decided to go for this Kenwood one. However, the confusing thing is this fridge/freezer comes in three different energy ratings, all exactly the same design and capacity and so forth. They do an E rated version for £599 which…

Important GOOD news if you have or had an RTS meter or E10 :-)
Kudos for @Scot_39 for spotting this new tariff from Octopus, which is great news if you still have or used to have an RTS meter, or you have E10. This tariff has the potential to be a game-changer for many customers. I miss out because I have the wrong type of meter, which is a shame because if it was available to me this…

E.On Electricity
Please could someone help me.....??.E.On is our electricity supplier. Today they sent out their 4th engineer to fit a smart meter. Electricity Bills have Rocketed
Hi, I live in a small house which in the past used £90 of electricity per month. Now on the same rate I'm going through £200 per month. The only item in regular use is the washer/dryer (Candy CSW 4852DE), could this be draining the electricity so dramatically? Thanks in advance

RTS to Smart
I have a RTS econ 7 meter but at the moment my two readings are added together because I requested a single rate tariff as I hardly use any off peak energy. With the RTS switch off coming shortly, I`ve been asked to change to a smart meter. Can I request that I only want a single rate smart meter fitted?
