1 year fix deal

I recently moved house when doing the switch on the phone with Octopus I was offered a 12month deal that looked great, it was 2p less for elec, 1p less for gas, and both standing charges were 3-4p less per day. at the time I was in the middle of setting up the export tarrif , and was supposed to call them to check if the 12Month deal would affect the export tarrif, and in general I just wanted to read up on it but I forgot...
the export tarrif is now live and I remembered about it, the deal they sent me expired and a new one from the octpus website is barely any cheaper.
I haven't really looked at these prices for about 3 years , do the deal prices fluctuate like that? is it likely to change much in the next few weeks? or has something major happened in the energy price world that I have missed in the past 2 weeks?

The most major thing that's been happening to energy prices in the past few years is the review of the price cap every 3 months. If those rates go up, the cost of fixes usually goes up.

Octopus tend to get through several different fixed-rate tariffs each month. Sometimes five or six different tariffs, all with minor variations in costs.
See this thread for examples of this in previous months:
Most Octopus fixes have no exit fee, so if you take a fix then a better one comes along later you can change at no cost.
