Switch via MSE Cheap Energy Club failed
On 26th Feb I used the club to check for the best deal for me and decided to move from Octopus to E.ON Next, Next Fixed 16m v9. Received a confirmation email from MSE stating "You should be switched within five working days (or 14 days if you chose to wait longer)." No emails since from anyone involved. I have been busy…

Engineer late for Smart Meter installation - Guaranteed Standards compensation
Hi all, Last week I had a 11:00-15:00 slot with Scottish Power for a smart meter installation. The engineer showed up until 15:03. He then looked at my smart meter, opened it up for a couple of minutes, and told me that it would be a 2 hour job (rather than the estimate of 1 hour given), so he would be working until 17:00.…

Octopus not responding to refund request
Last year I had solar panels fitted. I was already an octopus customer but had to have a smart meter fitted to enable solar tariffs. As part of that s/m installation, the Octopus appointed engineer fitted the CT clamp incorrectly and after the first month my bill was even higher than before Solar despite lots of sunshine.…

Energy supplier mistakes.
Good afternoon all... Bit of a curve ball one this and a bit concerning. I moved into a flat this time last year and have been paying the supplier since. However, it transpires that the meters were set up back to front with the flat upstairs (he was noticing inflated bills since I moved into the flat below him). I have…

Energy club using new or existing prices?
The Energy club used to say that they did not know what companies were going to charge with the new price rise in April - but that message has now disapeared. Are the prices now being quoted the prices that will start on 1st April or do I have to factor in the 6.5% rise?

FIT Overpayment
I changed my FIT metre after installing batteries in April 2022. All documentation was provided and approved. Meter readings were provided from inception based on Export. Subsequent meter readings were approved for the next 3 years, at least 50% with photo evidence showing Export readings. The company have now come back to…

My Cheap Energy Club result is always rubbish
An exclusive EDF deal was touted in an email this week quoting 7% savings. Logged into the club - guess my result - No Saving : PLUS £31 !!!!! This is actually the worst result ever, usually its 3 or 4 pounds more at best. IMO these headline figures amount almost to clickbait which is conduct unbecoming of MSE. I fully…

Switching energy at end of winter
So on the basis of info about the energy rising and it being a good time to swap I did a comparison on monthly payments and made the leap. I now have regrets and don’t think I can do anything about it: New supplier has billed me (first bill) soon after my existing supplier billed me so essentially 2 x payments in one month…

How to use annual gas heating kwh to work out the equivalent for electric heating
I have gas central heating and have my estimated annual usage in kwh on my bill. How do I convert it to understand what the annual usage would be if my heating was electric? I am looking for an approximate ballpark figure based on generic electric heating, not heat pumps or anything like that.
