When do you think energy companies will announce the 1st April prices for people on fixes?
How long will they leave it?
Or is the plan to try and get away without offering the reduction? Citing “extraordinary circumstances”, “challenging conditions”, etc
I’d like to know how much I’ll be paying.

They are not obliged to change anything based on regulations or laws, the minister just "strongly encouraged" them to do so.
The most obvious and only accurate answers is that they will announce the change before the implement any change, which means they could announce it any time in the next eighteen days, or they could announce nothing and do nothing.
As they will not be losing money I suspect many will not reduce prices, it does not make sense for them to self inflict greater losses.

Pretty sure I saw two prices on the Octopus fix quoted for my property one current and the other from April… 25.60 —> 23.47 p/kWh I have on my comparisons spreadsheet (inc VAT). This was a week or more ago. Today they quote 28.57p → 25.06 p if I repeat the quote process.
In my Octopus account they don't state the new rate, though. But promise to update the screen rate on1st April!
I'd expect you could ask your supplier what the rates will be for the tariff you are on?

Another incorrect answer.
"As they will not be losing money I suspect many will not reduce prices, it does not make sense for them to self inflict greater losses"

“As they will not be losing money I suspect many will not reduce prices, it does not make sense for them to self inflict greater losses.”
They might not be losing money but they do risk losing some credibility if they decide to go back on something they previously agreed.
As has been pointed out above, most companies are currently advertising fixed rates with 2 levels of pricing - pre and post April 1st. But they are holding out on announcing the same for pre-existing fix rate customers. I find this a little strange.1 -
That would be blatantly lying.

There is a difference between lying and changing their mind.

Saying one thing and doing another is lying by definition. Let's get one straight here. It's not their money to begin with.

On that basis you seem to think that if anyone changes their mind they are lying, that is not a rational position.

I think on Octopus fixes we are anticipating 3.54p off electric units and 0.33p off gas units, based on the drops shown on quotes for new fixes.

Thanks. I am with Octopus on their Feb 26 v6 fix That would be good news.
