Heating Dilemma
Hi I apologise if this has been asked before. To start with a bit of my background story is, at the moment I only put the heating on when I need it, in the morning to warm the house up, my clothes on the radiator before work and when I have a shower, other then that the heating stays off, I just were my oodie when I am…

Energy options
Hi, I am hoping to complete shortly on a 1 bedroom bungalow built around 1970. It needs work to modernise throughout, and currently has an warm air heating ducted system present (Johnson & Starley M31 High Spec System ET) which is gas fuelled. Water heating is done via a small separate water heater. There is also a single…

Timeshare Electricity Prices
Hi, we have a timeshare which we go to every year however we are becoming more concerned about the high price of the electricity for our stay. I think the average cost at the moment in the UK is around 24-25p per kW also the off peak rate is around half that. Last week we were charged an eye-watering 38p per kW day or…

Overnight Rate For Storage Heaters
I have a flat that my son lives in and we are trying to bring this up to EPC C. One requirement to do this is the installation of HHR storage heaters. However, can anyone tell me what the point of this is if you can't get a cheap overnight rate.? Even BG is not allowing a switch to economy 7. As far as I can see there are…

Octopus Outgoing Fixed ending
I was under the assumption that when my fixed term ends in May it would be renewed for another 12 months but I've just learned that they are dropping the fixed term, meaning it can change rate with 30 days notice. Are there any other providers that will gaurantee at least 15p/unit export rate for 12 months?

Seen a flat that looks terrible to heat
Hi guys I'm considering offering on a flat but it has some downsides. Is 70s top floor, flat roof, cavity wall, little to no insulation, no gas supply, no radiators. Has 70s electric underfloor that at best will be weak, unresponsive and expensive. Current owner uses a single portable electric heater in living room. Rest…

EON Fix or Leave if been granted insulation through EON .
I’m looking for a fixed energy tariff for my mother, who is currently on a standard EON contract. The cheapest fixed tariff available from another supplier would save her £100 compared to what she’s currently paying. However, the best fixed deal from EON is £34 more (about 3% higher) over the next 16 months. The concern is…

Faulty radiator has sent my energy bill soaring - my responsibility or my landlord’s?
Hi all, I have been paying my energy bill for a 3-bed flat in London for about 1.5 years and recently, I was alerted to the fact that my bill has spiked. When I did some searching in the house, I realised that we have a radiator in the living room that cannot be switched off and it appears to have sent our energy bill…

Tulo Energy
Hello, This company would be the best price in our case for dual fuel (despite being a variable tariff). However, I did not find them customer friendly. There is no phone for prospective clients and their ¨chat¨ is not manned or even a chatbot (not that I like the latter anyway but better than nothing). I had two…

Should I leave my current fix (ends in May) to go on another fix ready for the price cap rise?
My current tariff is octopus 12m fixed May 2024 v1. I like the rates. However, with it ending in May 2025 and the price cap expected to rise, I'm worried I won't get another decent fix so thinking if I fix now that gives me peace of mind for another set period. No exit penalty currently which is good. Upon doing a…

Octopus 16M fixed tariff
Hello, I am on a 12m fixed tariff with Octopus and my account is currently over £300 in credit. I have just received an email offer to sign up to a new 16M fixed tariff with the same costs per unit and standing charges which I am tempted to take advantage of. The question I have is that on the new tariff quotation received…

More flexible electric heaters
Hi, newbie here. We live in a listed building with no possibility of gas, oil, heat pump. We have electric and that’s all. We have Rointe K series heaters which were fitted by the previous owners 15 years ago. They do heat up the rooms but they are clunky to use and as a result we use more electricity than we need to.…

Has anyone found the results reliable? Octopus Complaints say the…
