EDF Energy - probate
I am an executor of a will. Probate has been applied for but not granted yet - a caveat has been put on the application.
EDF energy will not allow me to make any changes to the tariff that the property is currently billed under. Apparently I can only change tariff once probate is granted which could be some time. The property is a holiday let - so I have no control over power usage.
Does anyone know how I can get around this problem?

There is a sub board on here for wills / probate etc it may be better moved there, but I know it's down to the organisation and how they interpret anything.

sorry to hear about your loss
when my mother passed away last year she was with octopus, all they required was a copy of the death certificate and her account was closed down straightaway

Why do you want to change the tariff, specifically?

What is going to happen to the holiday let ? Is it still in use ?

Is this a business rather than a domestic tarrif?

Thanks for your comments - in response
- I have managed to make changes with other energy suppliers…EDF just don't seem to want to play ball
- I want to change to a cheaper tariff that will save the estate money (currently a PAYG tariff)…it is an ongoing business and will continue to be used as a holiday let
Thanks

Are you sure you'll save money vs. a PAYG tariff? The cap on PAYG tariffs is a touch lower than on credit tariffs these days.

I can't be sure I will save money - it is just that when the bill comes it says you could save money if you…and then gives details of the tariff/how much can be saved

If you're going through probate, be careful about switching to a long term fixed price tariff that has exit fees.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
