Changing name on a FIT account with British Gas due to bereavement
Does anybody have experience trying to change the name on a British Gas account which is used to handle the payments for electricity generated by solar panels. My Dad recently passed away, my mum and he owned everything jointly, but the FIT account at BG only allows for one name to be used, they chose to use Dad. Now my…

Micro User - Lazy Energy Company
Our micro not for profit have been getting estimated bills from EON for more than 2 years. They cant be bothered to read the meter. They are now taking us to Court for over £6,000 based on the estimated bills. The bills have not been right since Feb 2023. Where do we stand on the 'back-billing' rules?

British Gas Homecare
Had to log into the BG site and became aware of the 'Spring Sale' . Price comparisons refer to 'Essential, Classic, and Complete'. When I renewed last October it was still 'Homecare 2, 3 etc.' and the price I paid was significantly more expensive that the examples give. Has BG renamed the Homecare packages

My smet2 smart meter(not IHD) has been frozen on the same reading for over a week. My energy supplier is Tomato Energy who are saying they don’t come out and to contact the supplier who installed the smart meter( that was over 5 years old so doubt that supplier will take ownership). Has this happened to anyone else? Is…

Door knock : energy tariff advice giver turns into phone snatch and police called
Something needs to be done. This is all shades of wrong but the police didn't do anything. These guys came today and claimed they were from interactivechallenge and told me I could save money. He seemed pleasant so I had a chat with him on the door step. Before we knew it he asked my name, I only game him my first name. He…

Electricity (Only) fix coming to an end - where next?
Hi there, My EDF Electricity tariff comes to an end in March. I'm looking at options. I can fix for either 12 or 18 months for around £6 per month cheaper with Fuse or £4 per month cheaper with EON (fixed for 16 months). All have £50 early exit fees. It looks as though I may be able to get £21 cashback with Topcashback for…

Octopus Intelligent Go- Fixing
Having moved onto one of the beta apps for EV's, I am presuming that having the benefit of off peak charging rates and slots stops the account holder from fixing the tariff. So yes, give with one hand by take with the other. That said, there are sooooooo many tariffs they offer, I may have missed the option.

Out of date meters
Is it true that meters that are out of date but working perfectly have to be upgraded to a smart meter? My meters are not BBC ones.

Should I use immersion heater or gas boiler for hot water with solar panels?
Now we're getting more sunshine B) , my panels are producing excess energy so I wonder if we should be using immersion heater (we have a pressurised cylinder) instead of gas boiler to heat up our water tank? I'm with Octopus Flux: excess is sold back to grid at 13p kWh and gas is 5.9p kWh so presumably it's cheaper to use…

Madly inflated OVO electricity reading and bill received.... help please!
Yesterday I received my latest OVO energy (gas and electricity) for January - and was shocked to see that although my gas reading seemed possibly ok, the electricity reading was inexplicably through the roof. As I am ill, a pensioner, and disabled and housebound, I had not submitted a reading for these things since last…

Eon Next billed for 5x the electricity on meter reading
At the beginning of March Eon Next sent me a bill for electricity for 27 days in December claiming my usage was 5 times what it actually was, even though their own readings show the true amount. I tried querying this firstly via the email address the bill was sent from (which said 'reply if you have any queries'), stating…

Tracker updates
Morning all. I switched back to an Octopus fixed tariff, as I didn’t fancy risking the winter on the Tracker. Those of you that are on the Tracker, has it been an expensive couple of months? I have kept an eye on the rates, and it did appear to go very high for a few days here and there. I would welcome your opinions.…

Gas service contract not checking for leaks
We recently had our old meters (radio teleswtich) changed by our suppliers (OVO) to smart meters. After the new meters had been fitted the engineer informed us he'd found a pressure drop and would have to cap our supply which he did. After considerable to'ing & fro'ing British gas with whom we have a boiler service…

Help please! Backbill from Eon Next
Hi everyone, I'm in need of some help. Today I had a letter through the door from a debt collection team. They said they had tracked me back to living in a property in March 2023 (over 2 years ago) and said that I owed Eon Next £180 from this old property/energy account. Immediately I log into my eon next account and see…
