British Gas Prepayment meters- Home top up now available
Just thought I would make people aware that you can now top up your Electricity online and from 14 December will be able to do so for Gas also. The only people who will not be able to use this system yet are those with a debt on the Gas meter. Hopefully Siemens will have a new card that will allow this by the middle of…

Gas and Electricity bills. !!!!!!????
How can they explain this! Just had gas and electricty bills in. I currently pay £130/month gas and £30/month electricity. My gas bill that I've just received says that over the last year i've used 20328kWh of gas and that if my usage continues that i'll use £762 worth of gas next year. So, if i've paid 12x £130 then thats…

Boiler & Central Heating Service Contract
Our boiler and central heating service contract is up for renewal (we also have additional cover for drainage and electrics). We have been with British Gas for many years, and, in general, have been happy with their service and response to the occasional breakdown. As usual, the renewal price has gone up. In the past I've…

EOn FixOnline 9 is out
Fixed till March 2012, a bit cheaper than Price Protection May 2012, which has now lost any useful purpose, and should be withdrawn. Nothing like as low as FixOnline 8, though, so no thanks you. What a funny time to bring out a new tariff. We might increase the tariff in January, so grab a fix before we do kind of thing?…

Hi there, Sorry if this has already been covered but could not find it anywhere... I am with npower for my gas and electric and have a prepayment meter. EON Bill
I moved house in August and the property was with Utility warehouse. I switched to EOn because I have always been with them. I am due my quarterly bill from them and went online to submit meter readings to them, I worked out from the tariff that I am on, that I will owe about 120 pounds. I thought this was very good…

Scottish Power - Social Welfare Tariff (Scam?)
After switching to Scottish Power on one of their cheapest tariffs I read from MSE web site that if you are over 60 you should ask about the Social Welfare Tariff for the over 60's which is the cheapest tariff they offer, so I rang Scottish Power and asked about this tariff. I was told that the tariff I was on (which is…

Please check your British Gas bill carefully if you've rejected their price hike
Hi Title says it all really. Have been with British Gas for several years for both gas and electricity. I switched to EDF at the end of November using the recent welcome bonus/cashback offer. I also wrote to British Gas telling them: that I was rejecting their price hike on 10th December, that I was going to switch, and…

GAs Meter Change - anyone had MASSIVE increases after the change?
Hello We have lived in the same 3 bed mid-terrace for the past 6 years. We have an imperial meter. Our average 12 month usage for the first 5 years in this address has been between 9,600 and 11,200 KWh. (300 to 350 x 32) Our meter was changed in June 2010 by NPower - still an imperial meter but they had to change it "due…

Utilita?
Hi there! Well, I just moved into a studio flat - so in theory my energy consumption should be low. I have an old boiler (it's older than me, by about 2-4 years), and I've just figured out I'm going to have to have it on timer (which is annoying because I'm sure I have the same system as my mum and she can keep her water…

coal. Queensland exports. Electricity costs
Is my thinking correct? Uk generates 1/3 of its electricity from coal and queensland is the world`s biggest exporter. Given that their coal mines are flooded then obviously coal will cost more from wherever the uk source. So our energy costs will rise again

Prepayment meters
I moved into a rented property and there were debts on the meters but they have been removed but I dont see why I should be forced into having these prepayment meters as a new tenant because the previous occupant ran up a debt. Constantly having to have prepayments meters topped up all the time foremost in your mind is…

Electric heater in one room vs centrally heated whole house
Hi all I live in a 2 bed plus box room semi detatched house. Over the past month, because of how necessary it's been to have the heating on, I've been trying to work out whether it is more cost effective to have my electric eco heater on in the one room I use during the daytime, or to have the central heating on throughout…
