Used laptop purchase, what to do.
What would you do in the following scenario? I purchased a Dell Latitude 3540 from a local auction site (not eBay) and got what I think was/is a pretty good deal. The described specs were, 12th Gen Intel i5 processor, 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD etc, but what I actually got was only 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD but it does have a later 13th…

Is this a good tablet deal?
I have been mulling over the idea for a tablet device but never really sure what I would use it for. Last week I was at a workshop event and everyone was there with their laptops for when they needed to present plus a device for taking notes. My device for taking notes was a pad and pencil. I felt like a bit of a dinosaur…

Rechargeable 9v batteries
Need a 9v battery ... but don't use it much, so looking at rechargeable. I'd need to buy a specific charger to do this as my current one doesn't do them & so when searching I noticed 9v batteries you charge via USB cable. But no 'brands' that I recognise at all. And I'm cautious about no-name batteries. At the moment this…

Children's smart tech
I'm looking into first smartwatch, GPS tracker, or alternative for my 10yr old son. I'm reluctant to go down the phone route for many reasons, as I think they are too much of a distraction (particularly at school). GPS is frequency reported as inaccurate. Often there seems to be hidden subscription charges also. All…

Has anybody any experience of the eero router?
I signed up with Fibrus today due to their very low prices ATM. I have a FTTC connection but it's garbage due to the house wiring so need another. I knew Fibrus use the eero router but I made the mistake of researching it only after I'd signed up. I still can't quite believe that eero would mandate that their router not…

Old 78's
I have some old 78 records, and I have an old 'vintage' style record player, which has just packed up. I saw a record player online, which only played 45's and 33's. But on Amazon there was another one which played all 3 speeds, so I phoned Richer Sounds about the first one, which they stocked, and they told me that there…

Buying new laptop / compatibility with older software
I want to buy my mum a new laptop for Christmas. She's currently using a PC she's had for years but it's running Windows 10 with no option to upgrade, so we're a bit worried about it's vulnerability now that OS is unsupported. Anyway she's got various bits of software on the PC which was installed ages ago using the CD…
