Fischer heating - please help

My Octopus tariff is coming to an end in August. I have got email renewal invitation and wish to renew into another fixed tariff. Electric meter replaced, now gas heating not working (boiler has electric starter and thermostat)
I am with Scottish Power. Now the meter has been replaced theres no electrical power going into the thermostat in living room, or the boiler. I have gas supply with British Gas and SP are saying BG fault as they supply the gas, but it's an electrical issue. About to phone BG but wanted advice first.
