Ecotricity cashback through the cheap energy club

I'm trying to sign up to Ecotricity through the energy club but it says -

"We can’t help you switch to this deal

This supplier won’t let us help you switch to it, so unfortunately you’ll have to go to its site and do it on your own.

If you do switch, remember to update your tariff details in Cheap Energy Club so we can give you an accurate comparison next time".

This is fine but how do I get the £20 cashback by going through the cheap energy club?

Some suppliers pay third parties (e.g. their own customers, comparison sites, and the CEC) a commission for successfully introducing new customers.  Some of these share this commission to encourage people to sign up in this way.
However, some suppliers (often the cheapest ones) refuse to pay commission.  There's no commision to share so you won't get any £20 cashback, just the cheap prices.

I have just run a quotation on the MSE Energy club and it does state £0 cashback for switching to the Ecotricity tariff.

MSE will not be paid a referral fee from Ecotricity to pass onto you as cashback.

When shopping around, beware that some less reputable comparison sites default to showing only the suppliers who pay them commission.  You have to hunt for the tick box (seldom prominent) and vague words (e.g. 'suppliers that we can't switch you to').

I think the OP might have seen this page which states that Ecotricity offer £20 cashback via Cheap Energy Club.

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/are-there-any-cheap-fixed-energy-deals-currently-worth-it/     (see the box marked 'The cheapest energy fixes')

It would appear that they may have got this wrong.
