AVG Help
Hi, can someone help please? My subscribition to AVG was due today but unfortuantly I misread the date and there were insufficient funds to cover it so the payment failed. My fault of course. I have updated card details, it says successfull but doesnt say when they will try again for payment. Trying to contact them is an…

Very low upload speed from one device only.
I've just run Speedtest by Ookla from my laptop, phone and tablet. On the phone and tablet upload speed is roughly 20Mbps. From the laptop it's showing about 0.3 Mbps. Download speed is consistent across all devices. Wireless connection to a BT Hub in all cases. Laptop is positioned about 1 foot from the Hub. Any thoughts…

Temporary router - help!
Does the following make any sense? Someone drove into the local BT junction box, and our broadband is down for the next week until Openreach can get round to fixing it. I have a mifi router I bought, and I'm using that for internet connectivity for the time being. The trouble is that all the smart gadgets in the house are…

Microsoft OneDrive is baffling me...and driving me nuts
I needed an option to back up my photos and files - there's quite a lot - and after looking on the MSE website, decided Microsoft 365 with OneDrive was the best option. I'm regretting it. Yesterday, when I wasn't signed into OneDrive, it wouldn't let me access my files that I THOUGHT were saved on my computer. Turns out…

Google Chrome - news feeds
Last week, without any intervention on my part, nor any apparent updates, my previously clean page when using Google Chrome was infested with news feeds and adverts. I have searched intensively (or so I thought) for a solution without success. Every solution offered tells me to go to the settings page (first stop I made)…

Microsoft Money file name
I have been using Money for years now but just a couple months ago the file name name changed from a simple .mny file to my computer's name then a bunch of numbers and letters then .mny. What did I do or the app do to do this? It seems to have all the correct numbers. I still have the original My Money.mny file and I am…

Facebook groups not showing
I'm a member of 20 groups on FB, but sadly of the three that I have 'pinned', all refuse to appear in my newsfeed. My 'go to' place is on my W10 PC using Firefox and the FB Purity extension, but even on G Chrome with no extensions, and using the FB app on my Android phone … still no sign of my 'pinned' groups. Other than…

Back Market Trade-In: Requested Info
Hi there. I recently bought a refurbished iPad from Back Market and sent in an old iPad for trade-in. Everything’s been going fine, but I’ve just received an email from them asking for my banking info, birthdate, and driver’s license number (or the last 4 digits of my SSN) before they can process the payment for the old…

Is there a way to try & repair corrupt images?
Having a sort out of my PC which is going to be a long process. Got to 1 folder & there's 2 images I have in a folder which are corrupt. I don't remember this always being the case. The date stamps on them are accurate, the file sizes are what I would expect (700kb & 1mb) but the thumbnails show nothing & when clicking…

Recommend a smart watch with ECG
As per the title, I am looking to replace my current smart watch with a new one. The one function that it MUST have is the ability to do an ECG (I know they aren’t medical quality) Looked at Apple, but would prefer something with a decent battery life of more than a day or 2 Garmin have some models (I think) but they would…

I saw the sticky on AI but I think we are past which one do people use, I use all but not in the mad way we see people on YouTube (from "shall I have a snack" to "will you marry me" What is more interesting is what are you using them for and which ones do you find are better at what tasks than others?

Hi, My MIL has just got a new tv. She has an older dvd player that uses a scart socket. The new tv has HDMI ports free. I have so far tried two cables with scart one end and hdmi the other and with both the tv hasn't picking up the signal. What is the best way to connect the two and does anyone have links to cables that…

Which PC would you buy - new or refurbished?
I'm looking into replacing my 12 year old Windows 7 PC with something more modern, and based on what my wife and I want to use the system for (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, emails, web browsing, watching YouTube, programming and some content creation), I've come down to either Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7, but…

Sorry folks - another Ring doorbell question!
So .. I eventually got our Ring wired doorbell up and running and it all seems to work as it should on my phone. (We don't need what you get with a subscription.) I did the "shared user" thing to my wife's phone, and even got that working in the sense that she can use live view, talk to the doorbell etc. But she doesn't…
