Recommend a smart watch with ECG

As per the title, I am looking to replace my current smart watch with a new one.

The one function that it MUST have is the ability to do an ECG (I know they aren’t medical quality)

Looked at Apple, but would prefer something with a decent battery life of more than a day or 2

Garmin have some models (I think) but they would come with a load of functions that I don’t really need

Any others to look at/consider ?

(Price - not a main consideration)

Thanks in advance

The main contenders are apple, google and garmin. There are some other lesser known ones, but that is an issue if they don't have the history, storage for results, software updates etc. Both apple and google have much more limited battery life.

Garmin has a big range, from very sports orientated watches, to ones with fewer functions. Something like the Venu 3 would be a good choice, comes in two sizes, lasts up to 10 days without charging (more realistically 5 or 6, depending which functions you switch on) and has an ECG function. Costs £369 regardless of whether you get a small or medium size. It was recently available at £299. A Venu 4 is the newer model, but has exactly the same sensor for the ECG function and costs £100 more.

If you only need an ECG and not a watch at all, cardiologists usually recommend a kardiamobile device at around £100.

My partner has the Fitbit Charge 6, does ECG and the usual other stuff, about £120. Battery lasts most of a week.

My Samsung has it but, as you correctly state, the battery life is dreadful.

I have 2 Huawei watches which take ECGs, the latest of which also does Heart Rate Variability and Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis.

Battery life with continuous monitoring is 4 to 5 days, with screen on lift to wake, always on display will reduce that time.

The ECG on my watches matched exactly what my hospital monitor showed when I was in for a day and changed one doctor's view of how useful smart watches can be.

The associated Huawei Health app has to be downloaded in a roundabout way, it works wells and I have 22 months of results stored.

Samsung watch…..The ECG on mine works well…..Also the blood pressure monitor.

I don't think any of them work in isolation though, they will need a phone app also. i.e Samsung Health.

thanks for the info and insights.

Must say that I’m tempted with a Garmin as I do like a big chunky watch.

Need to find a retailer that I can go have a look and get some advice from
