Fingerprint problem since update to Android 16 and One UI 8 - SOLVED

My Samsung phone recently updated to Android 16 and One UI 8 and since then I can't seem to use my fingerprint to log into my banking apps
The apps say that biometrics are not set up on my device - of course they are, but the apps don't seem to think so!
I've tried deleting and re-scanning my fingerprints but still no joy.

Go into your apps and check their biometric settings too.

Had similar, as @Ayr_Rage says, re-enable biometrics in the individual apps. No need to delete/re input fingerprints from device.0

But when I go into the biometric settings of the apps they say that biometrics are not enabled on the device - as stated in my original post "The apps say that biometrics are not set up on my device"0

Have you done the first thing you should always try, restarting the phone?0

It's a known issue with Samsung's update to Android 16 and One UI 8.1

Yeah, I have the same problem.
I suspect the apps that don't work need an update for Android 16's new permissions.0 -
Could try reinstalling the app to see if it fixes it. Otherwise will have to wait for Samsung to roll out a patch0

Hello, I came here for an answer to the above question as I had the same happen after an update on my phone. I found that to get my functionality back that I had to go into the settings of the secure folder that I had those apps in specifically and re-input fingerprints for that. I thought it was worth sharing an alternative0

Ah, brilliant, thanks for that.giraffes38 said:I found that to get my functionality back that I had to go into the settings of the secure folder that I had those apps in specifically and re-input fingerprints for that.
Not obvious, is it?
I had never setup fingerprints for the secure folder, just used a pattern, but Apps within it still used them until the update to Android 16 / One UI 8.0
