Smarty SIM - on '3' - very poor download speeds.
Trying to set up a temporary 4G router for daughter as she stays in a relative's house for an undetermined period. Got a cheap BT mini-Halo 4G router, and she bought a data-loaded SIM from Smarty. Download speeds were in the order of 2.5Mbps, which was useless for pretty much everything. I assumed it was an issue with the…

Vodafone buys out Three, taking 100% of Vodafone Three
According to the Financial Times, Vodafone is buying out Three's 49% of Vodafone Three for £4bn. A clause in the contract gave them the right to do this after 3 years, so I don't know why they have gone early. Apparently, nothing will change. But there are already rumours of 3 staff leaving head office.

budget phone
I don't know much about phones. I've had a Moto e6s for several years, but the battery now runs down quickly, so I need a replacement. I don't use it much, so I'm on PAYG. Mostly I receive calls, texts and emails, but sometimes I also make calls and texts. Occasionally I use web access when away from home. I almost never…

Cheap smartphone required
Where do I start looking for a cheap smartphone, probably second-hand, of some type or a cheap Chinese one? My old 2g phone is going to be turned off soon so looks like I need to move to a 4g/5g phone of some variety. Know virtually nothing about mobile phones and what facilities I should/shouldn't be looking for. Only…

Vodafone and Three
Will Vodafones merger with Three positively affect my phone signal with Talkmobile - or the share only relevant to Vodafone and Three themselves and not virtual operators ? or will they just use this as an excuse to dispense with unwanted repetition of towers ? At present - at home Vodafone is the best of a worst bunch -…

I pay for a small amount every month but I don’t really want to be paying an extra £3 every month . I have over 6000 photos , 235 videos and 79 apps . My phone is a 128gb . I thinking of changing…

MSE guide discussion - Piggybacking - need to keep your signal? You can still switch network
Hi all, Just starting a new thread as we've recently optimized our Piggybacking guide. Piggerbackers have come a long way, with some now offering 5G, Wi-Fi calling, visual voicemail and '4G calling' (VoLTE). Do you use any of these extra features? Also, what's your experiences switching Sims? Do you find it easy to do?…

I’m have a rolling £5.99 p.m. SIM only deal with Lycamobile, payable by DD. Lyca piggy back on EE of course. We’ve just had a break in Jersey. When we landed, my iPhone changed from ‘Lycamobile’ to ‘Sure’ network in the top left corner. However, throughout the whole 5 nights I was unable to make or receive any calls.…

Sim for elderly person help
I purchased my 85 year old mum a basic flip mobile Art Fone 6 years ago. Mum is not able to make phone calls so the use of the phone was basically for me to phone her and check up on her. Pay-as-you-go options (not bundles)
Hello, can anyone tell me which providers offer a 'traditional' pay-as-you-go option that: -isn't a bundle nor a monthly deal, and -doesn't require regular top-ups? This is because it's for a phone which will very rarely be used (probably max 5 texts / short calls per year). It's fine if I need to keep the SIM active by,…

Mobile comparison tool
